Autel Evo Nano+ review

Autel has spent the last few years trying to convince drone owners that good drones are made by companies other than DJI. It had some success with the Evo II, but it took the announcement of a new generation of Evo series drones to really convince...

Big sensor and bright lens Collision detection Stunning video and stills Air 2S features in a 250g drone

Fragile Still missing subject-tracking No API support Controller needs a redesign

So near to success, but now probably in the firing line of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. The Nano+ might have been the drone to own had it arrived with complete software and fewer issues. To really compete with DJI, it'll likely need to become much cheaper.

Autel Robotics Evo Nano+ Review

The Autel Robotics Evo Nano+ is an ultra-light drone that you can fly without dealing with FAA registration. Its 4K30 camera is capable and it supports obstacle detection, but it's not quite as refined as lesser-priced rivals.

4K30 video with gimbal stabilization Camera supports 12MP and 50MP photos Automated quick shots and Hyperlapse Up to 28 minutes of flight time Three-way obstacle sensors GPS with return-to-home functionality

Raw photos are tricky to process Overprocessed look to video Log profile is only 8-bit

Creators and hobbyists shopping for a drone often target aircraft with 249g takeoff weights in order to sidestep the hassles of FAA registration. Autel's take on the concept is the Evo Nano series, which matches featherweight engineering with gimbal...

If you're curious or you want a reminder of the specs, you can read my first impressions of this drone here. For a sub-250g drone, the EVO Nano+ is a good drone. It's small, pretty easy to fly, and a little harder to crash than its closest competition...

Good camera Has obstacle avoidance sensors Sub-250g (for where that matters)

Price App needs more control over the camera settings

I quite like the EVO Nano+. It's a fun drone with some cool features, and it packs down small. But I keep coming to that price tag. I like it, but I don't like it so much that it makes me overlook just how pricey this drone is. Even if you're worried...

Autel Evo Nano+ review

The Autel Evo Nano+ is the best camera drone not made by DJI.

The Autel Evo Nano+ is a very good, very light, and very capable drone. However, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is an equally capable and equally light drone that costs $140 less. And, DJI’s drone can also take vertical video, which is a pretty neat trick. In...
