Pioneer DVR-530H

Rather than focus on adding new features to the DVR530H, Pioneer has instead concentrated on improving quality, hard drive size, and recording speed. ...

XP+ 15Mbps recording mode, 12x DVD writer, dual layer DVD-R compatible, excellent functionality

No DVD+R support, limited connection options

The Pioneer 530H is an excellent recorder, bringing both ease of use and professionalism to the user. Some minor omissions prevent this recorder from realising its truly epic potential.

Pioneer DVR-530H

This Pioneer DVR has excellent recording quality and many value-added features but lacks a complete set of connectivity.

Excellent recording quality ; Long recording time ; Solid build ; User-friendly interface/menu ; Value-added features

No component input ; No coaxial digital output ; A bit pricey

We also checked out the USB terminal speed by copying 50MB worth of photo files stored in a high-speed SD card connected to the recorder via a card reader and managed to complete the transfer in less than two minutes.

EXCELLENT BIT OF EQUIPMENT. RECOMMENDED.

Top quality performance, and good build quality. Compact and looks stylish. It starts recording the instant you push the record button, so is very convenient for chasing playback. I've had mine for three years with no problems.

Playback quality is every bit as good as the input was ; both sonically and visually competent. Easy to edit out adverts before transferring recordings to dvd. Very fast transfer (10mins for a 1hr40 programme, typically) with no loss of quality. Easy...

Used with Sky it downloads EPG data from Eurosport overnight. If this data is interrupted, previous data has been erased so you can't use EPG until new data is acquired. But timer mode is good from standby

GREAT PICTURE, RELIABLE AND ROBUST IN SLEEK ATTRACTIVE CASE.

picture is first class compared with other dVD recorders with built in freeview [i use this all the time] not sure about sky but the picture i receive is excleent and consistent (i had a humax 9200t for a while and had real problems with pixellation...

great picture, lovely looking box. great amount of connections - no problem connecting amplifier other hardware. reliable and well constructed case which is reassurring.

fiddly and hard to hold remote control. This is quite difficult to set up recordings within the EPG as one of the buttons i use the most is the small red [one of the 4 colours used in teletext etc] to record a scheduled program. The instant record...
