D-Link DSM-210 review

This 800-by-480-pixel, 10in frame comes with a snap-on white border, but we preferred the all-black, modern look. The D-Link DSM-210 doesn't really resemble a traditional picture frame; it looks far more techie. But sadly, some of this frame's...

At its asking price, and even at its 10in size, the D-Link DSM-210 frame's limitations would be enough to put consumers off.

D-Link DSM-210 review

As one would expect from D-Link - a company known for its networking products - the D-Link DSM-210 picture frame is Wi-Fi-enabled.

At its asking price, and even at its 10in size, the D-Link DSM-210 frame's limitations would be enough to put consumers off.

D-Link Wireless Photo Frame (DSM-210)

The D-Link DSM-210 Wireless Photo Frame may not have the most pixels, but it's plenty big and still delivers sharp, pleasing pictures.

Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet connectivity. Wall mountable. Large, sharp, bright antiglare display.

Outer frame detracts from appearance. Touch controls seldom work and can be difficult to see through the mat surround.

It looks far techier than a traditional picture frame, but some of its features will pose problems for technophiles and technophobes alike.

D-Link DSM-210 10-inch Wireless Internet Photo Frame

D-Link's wireless enabled photo frame tries to be all things to all people. What it ends up being is pretty awful.

Mounting arm allows for horizontal or vertical placement ; Wi-Fi and Ethernet enabled ; Motion sensors ; 1GB of on-board memory

Remote and touch controls are both annoying ; Low resolution screen looks bad up close ; No CF card slot ; Way too hard to copy files to internal memory

Ultimately we came away from the DSM-210 quite unimpressed. While the feature set promised on the front of the box is pretty impressive, it sits in stark contrast to the price, the quality of the display and the unit's inherent limitations.

Review: D-Link DSM-210 digital picture frame

The DSM-210 has some good features, but a lot of compromises are made within those features. If all you want to do is simply display pictures, you should be able to find a 10-inch frame at a more affordable price.

Motion detector ; Includes Wi-Fi ; Downloads from RSS feeds, Facebook, Flickr, and more

No image adjustment controls ; Software is Windows only ; Limited slide-interval adjustments ; Can't handle nested folders ; Can handle only one Internet content stream at a time

Once the images were loaded, the displayed pictures had a slightly desaturated look with a cool cast. The screen is bright and can be viewed from different angles without losing image visibility, but no brightness or contrast controls are available....
