Sony Alpha A77

With its 12fps burst speed and 24.3MP sensor the Sony A77 packs quite a punch.

Fastest continuous shooting speed in its class ; Excellent image quality ; Generous range of HD movie recording options ; Lots of useful features and customisation options ; EVF is the best we've yet seen

EVF still not as good as a traditional viewfinder

Sony Alpha A77 review

24Mp and a groundbreaking viewfinder, bring it on!

Blisteringly fast phase detection AF ; Very good overall image quality ; Weather sealing and decent build ; Plenty of dedicated controls ; Comprehensive feature-set

Reduced battery life ; EVF may not suit everyone ; Aggressive noise reduction in JPEGs at high ISOs ; Slower start-up than an equivalent DSLR ; Lag when switching between EVF and LCD

Sony Alpha SLT-A77

Sony's SLT-A77 has to be one of the most hotly-anticipated cameras of recent years. Since the Alpha A700 was pulled from production there's been something of a gap in the Alpha lineup – a gap that the A77 looks to fill. But with its SLT (Single Lens...

Super-fast burst mode, great movie mode, OLED viewfinder the best electronic viewfinder to date, weather-sealed body, competitive price

Electronic viewfinder still suffers some lag, poor battery life, 24.3MP sensor doesn’t cut it at higher ISO settings

A camera worth waiting for: the A77 certainly puts the SLT format on the map and is a worthy update of the A700. Its fast burst mode, continuous autofocus and solid 24MP image quality are all attractive qualities for an £1150 camera body.

Sony Alpha SLT-A77 review

The Sony SLT-A77 is the long-awaited replacement for the DSLR-A700, Sony's previous ‘semi-pro' DSLR. The A77, of course, isn't actually a DSLR (Sony doesn't make them any more), despite looking and handling very much like one. Instead it's an SLT...

Sony Alpha A77 review

The translucent-mirror-equipped Sony Alpha A77 is a camera that supports shooting speeds and focus skills that put DSLRs to shame - but it's not a DSLR, okay?

With its shooting speeds and focus skills that put DSLRs to shame, the translucent-mirror-equipped Sony Alpha A77 is an exciting newcomer to the camera world.

Sony Alpha 77 review

An impressive specification has certainly grabbed the attention here, and the Alpha 77 has been given more than a few tweaks over its predecessor. Sony has set the bar in several areas, not least of which is the inclusion of a high-resolution imaging...

Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 35mm F2.8 ZA

The Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 35mm F2.8 ZA is a compact, sharp wide-angle lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras, but it's on the pricey side.
