The Pentax K200D has 10 megapixels and is built to survive the worst weather

The K20D proved to be a great camera, but will the K200D meet the same standard?
Extensive feature set ; Good pictures ; Robust build
Uses AA batteries ; Dodgy Kit lens
The K200D is very good. The interface might look basic, but the features aren't. The Kit lens is the draw back though. It's OK for the undemanding but you may want to consider a more expensive alternative like the 16-45mm, say, which will push the...

The K200D follows the footsteps of its forbear, the K100D, offering a budget price camera but with a mid-to-high-end specification. Make no mistake, the K200D is a compact and simple to use DSLR that makes the art of snapping a cinch, (barring some...

Pentamirror viewfinder’s gloomy, some key controls buried only in menus, minor handling issue
And so, when all is said and done, the K200D straddles a gap between those on a budget and those wanting a feature rich, rugged DSLR and it does it rather well. It is not without flaws and some handling foibles that take getting used to.

It's a plain Jane, but the K200D promises decent performance and sturdy build at a reasonable price
Not so much sexy as sturdy, this is a workhorse rather than a camera you’ll ever fall in love with

Cameras like the Pentax K200D are designed to attract non digital SLR users to the mirrorcam fold, although you don't have to be a newbie to appreciate this model's affable feature set. There may be smaller and lighter compact DSLRs in the market, but...

The latest generation of budget DSLRs has arrived offering more for your money than ever before. How does ten million pixels for £400 sound? Not bad, eh! Step forward Pentax's K200D and the Alpha 200 from Sony. Both are aimed to appeal to beginners...
Pentax's K100D won many plaudits for its excellent handling and so it's little surprise that this update hasn't seen many changes. At 630g, the K200D isn't heavy, but it has a very reassuring feel, thanks to the large, rubberised handgrip and the...

An entry-level DSLR featuring facets of its more advanced sibling – too good to be true?...
Expert review by : Kevin Carter (macuser.co.uk)
When we reviewed the Pentax K100D Super we were impressed with the built-in anti-shake and anti-dust features, not to mention the unbelievably low price. However, not upping the pixel count meant plumping for the bigger, pricier K10D if you wanted more...
With fewer thrills than most of its rivals, there are no Live View options for example, the K200D may not have the same kind of appeal as some, but it should be a compelling choice for existing Pentax users and will appeal to semi-pros on a budget
Expert review by : Richard Sibley (amateurphotographer.co.uk)
The Pentax K200D offers an almost identical specification to the previous flagship model, the K10D, so it looks likes it could be a serious contender in the already bulging entry-level market
