A very minor update, but still a fine DSLR. Pentax K-1 II.
Huge degree of external control ; Excellent rugged, weather-sealed build quality ; Superb image quality, with high resolution and dynamic range ; In-body stabilisation gives sharper images with almost any lens ; Compatible with vast range of new and...
Heavy and bulky body ; Slow wake-up from auto power-off ; Screen isn’t touch-sensitive ; Sluggish live view autofocus
For anyone who has a suitable collection of K-mount lenses and wants to make the step up from APS-C to full-frame, the Pentax K-1 Mark II is very easy to recommend. But I don’t think it’s worth upgrading from the original K-1; there’s too little extra...

There are only two updates to Pentax's flagship DSLR, but they're potentially impressive.

The Pentax K-1 II is a full-frame sensor DSLR camera with high speed autofocus and impressive image quality. It may look and feel similar to its predecessor, the K-1, but has Pentax improved the camera enough to warrant an upgrade? Read on for our full...

We review the new 36mp Pentax K-1 Mark II - the update to the full-frame K-1 - is the new model worth the upgrade?
When the K-1 first came out, it offered a high-resolution sensor at a competitive price, with a number of unique features. Whilst the K-1 Mark II still offers the same 36mp sensor, and keeps the same unique features, the market has moved on, with the...

Excellent build quality ; Great image quality ; 5-axis stabilization ; Pixel Shift Resolution ; Unique, functional control layout
Upgrades over K-1 are of limited use ; Pixel Shift requires Ricoh software ; Slow burst rate ; Lackluster video specifications
The K-1 II is not a bad camera — in fact, viewed in a vacuum, it’s really quite good. The issue is that it represents a mild upgrade over the original that won’t bring tangible benefits to all users. If you really need extreme high ISO capability, it...

The Pentax K-1 Mark II camera is a very minor update to the original K-1, but is a fine entry point for Pentax owners looking to step up to full-frame.
Proven 36MP full-frame image sensor. High resolution Pixel Shift capture. 5-axis stabilization. Weather-sealed. Attractive price. GPS and Wi-Fi.
Slow, inconsistent autofocus. Outdated video toolset. Slower (4.4fps) burst shooting. Omits UHS-II SD support. Dwindling third-party lens support.
Bottom Line: The Pentax K-1 Mark II camera is a very minor update to the original K-1, but is a fine entry point for Pentax owners looking to step up to full-frame.

The follow-up to the original K-1 is here, built like a tank like its predecessor, with improvements to AF Tracking. However, we find that image quality takes a bit of a hit with the tweaks Pentax has made.
The Pentax K-1 Mark II is a unique DSLR to review. In many aspects we regard as crucial when testing, like autofocus performance and video capabilities, it lags behind the competition. But it's got a tried and true 36MP full-frame sensor, offers great...
