Panasonic Lumix GX7

Could this be the best camera Panasonic has ever made?

Very crisp vari-angle touchscreen ; Innovative and high-quality tilting EVF ; Very fast auto-focus system

3:2 aspect screen not ideal for photos or video ; Noise control not quite as good as very best

Other impressive speed figures include a maximum continuous shooting speed of 5fps using single AF with the mechanical shutter, or up to 12 frames at 60fps is you decide to use the electronic shutter.

The best image quality from a G-series camera

Touchscreen ; Tilting screen ; EVF

Screen isn't articulated ; Slow Tracking AF system ; Slow viewfinder refresh rate

Panasonic Lumix GF5 review

A fast, light and perfectly formed CSC

Small size ; Low noise images ; Metal buttons

No manual control in Creative Control mode ; Slightly unresponsive touchscreen ; Auto white balance inaccuracies

Panasonic has seen great success with the Lumix GF3, with its small size and beginner-friendly user interface appealing to a wide variety of users. So how does its successor, the Panasonic Lumix GF5, shape up?

Panasonic GX7 review

The Panasonic GX7 is the brand's new compact-styled G-series flagship

Adjustable viewfinder ; Touchscreen and buttons ; Great build quality

Buttons a re bit too small ; Smaller sensor than rivals ; Expensive compared with rivals

Panasonic Lumix GX7 review

The Panasonic Lumix GX7 immediately took up the "most wanted" position in our desirable compact system cameras list when it was announced earlier this year. How's that for hype? But it's hype with reason: the GX7 comes complete with a brand new Micro...

Built-in electronic viewfinder, decent build quality, super-fast autofocus speed, decent image qualty, fully user-customisable, responsive touchscreen controls, manual focus override with focus peaking works well, 1/8000th sec shutter speed, price fair...

Colour noise in high-ISO shots, some viewfinder activation lag, continuous autofocus still not quite there, accidental focus point adjustment via touchscreen, so-so battery life, pinpoint AF requires double tap, overexposure can be an issue

The Lumix GX7 is the package deal. It's bursting with features, it's a pleasure to use and it produces some excellent shots. Pro-spec features such as a 1/8000th sec maximum shutter speed and that tilt-angle viewfinder further bolster the package deal...

Hands-on: Panasonic Lumix GX7 review - Pocket-lint

From one to seven: the Panasonic Lumix GX7 looks to turn up the dial on the premium yet small compact system camera (CSC) market thanks to a bulging feature

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 review

Sleeker, smaller and just as smart as a big boy DSLR, the Panasonic GX7 might just be the best high-end all-rounder we've seen.

Great picture quality ; Smooth video ; Tiltable electronic viewfinder ; Tiltable LCD ; Versatile ; Built-in flash

Not the smallest system camera ; EVF sensor is easily fooled ; Poor Wi-Fi implementation

This fantastic high-end micro-DSLR isn't much of a looker but it's a tireless worker

Panasonic LUMIX GX7 review

The GX7's body conforms to Panasonic's trend of simple, flat, rectangular designs, measuring 123mm x 71mm x 55mm at its bulkiest dimensions. It's a very solid camera, with no flexing or creaking when its body is stressed. Viewed from the front, there's...

Panasonic’s LUMIX GX7 is the most feature-packed compact camera we’ve seen. All of these features are useful to varying degrees, but the overall package is a versatile one. The GX7 is a great compromise between the small size of a compact camera and...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 review

There's no question that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 is a real leap forward in comparison to its predecessor, the GX1. Every area of the camera has been improved, resulting in one of the best compact system cameras available for serious photographers...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 review - Pushes the limits of the Micro Four Thirds format

The GX7 pushes the limits of the Micro Four Thirds format and crams in enough extras to deliver Panasonic's best yet

Solid metal build, angle adjustable eye level viewfinder and tilting rear LCD, very quiet operation, smooth zoom action

Backplate button smaller than we’d like, not an APS-C sensor, looks expensive unless directly compared with rivals offering similar features

Whilst not cheap at £819 body only, or £899 with a 14-42mm kit zoom comparable to the one provided with the Olympus E-P5 – not just in size and reach but with regard also to the swiftness and quietness of its auto focus performance – the Panasonic does...
