Olympus hits the superzoom market with an unprecedented 20x optical zoom and manual zoom ring control.
Expert review by : Chris Hall (pocket-lint.com)
Some super zooms look a little uncomfortable in their shells – a fusion of huge lens body stuck on an otherwise fairly compact camera. The Olympus takes a slightly more macho approach, looking more like a compact SLR than some of its competitors, see...
Great range of options, simple to use for novices, options for advanced users, good build quality
Price, electronic view finder not fantastic, needs xD-Picture Card (not supplied), battery life, image quality can suffer
With so many features on offer, it is impossible to cover all of them without rewriting the manual. The Olympus SP-570 UZ looks good, feels good in the hand and build quality is impressive. But with every super zoom camera compromises have to be made....

Olympus' entry into the megazoom class delivers the greatest magnification rating of any camera we've seen. Using the Olympus SP-570 UZ at 20X, photos taken at a distance of up to 30ft from the subject looked as though the photographer had been right...
A great quality camera at a decent price, we like the Olympus SP-570 UZ.

How does the Olympus SP-570 UZ compare in a now-crowded marketplace?

Olympus' DSLR-like ultra-zoom offers a 20x lens reach with image stabilisation
For those needing to get really close to the action, the SP-570UZ offers a big zoom in a robust, compact body

The Olympus SP-570UZ may just be the camera for you if you are not ready to jump on the DSLR bandwagon just yet.
Great long zoom range ; ability to capture images in RAW, lightweight and portable
Slow startup time ; slow focusing speed ; video mode does not allow the use of optical zoom without sacrificing audio
All in all, however, the Olympus SP-570UZ is a decent bridge camera that should cater to both beginners and advanced amateurs.

The Olympus SP-570 handles a lot like a Digital SLR. Its main attraction is its 20x optical zoom lens, but there are plenty of other features to get excited about as well. This is a 10 megapixel model. It has manual exposure controls, manual focusing,...
Looks good - build quality - handling - picture quality
Shutter delay could be faster
This is as close to a Digital SLR as you are likely to get without buying one. I really like the way the camera handles and it takes fine photos as well. If you are looking for a digital camera with a super long lens then take a look at this one.
