Nikon D60 review

A wealth of new features leaves us feeling overwhelmed

Excellent pictures ; Some interesting improvements ; Great image retouching options

Awkward handling ; Not much here unless you're a beginner

The D60 isn’t so different from the D40x. The main changes are the anti-dust system, the new Nikkor 18-55mm VR kit lens and eye-sensor. The pictures are great, and the picture modes and retouching are impressive. The handling remains a sore point.

Nikon D60 DSLR camera

The D60 arrives in the wake of the D3 and D300 and slots into the range above the D40 (which stays on as part of the Nikon crew) and below the D80 replacing the D40x. And the similarities to that camera are obvious as soon as you pick the thing up....

Compact size, low ISO image quality, VR lens kit, excellent features, ease of use, ergonomics

Noise at higher sensitivities, small viewfinder

Fast, easy to use and able to produce excellent results at lower ISO settings, the D60x is worthy successor to the D40x and certainly worth a look for anyone wanting to get that bit more from their photography in a compact, responsive package.

Nikon D60 review

The Nikon D60 is a great choice you don't need a high-end digital SLR but you're keen to trade up from a compact camera phone and capture more professional-looking photographs without starting a run on a bank.

All that's missing in the Nikon D60 is Live View, an increasingly common function on DSLRs whereby the rear LCD can be used to compose and check images; useful if you're shooting flush to the floor, whereupon it's impossible to get your eye level with...

The new kid on the budget DSLR block punches well above its weight. Can it deliver a haymaker to Olympus' E-410?

A sterling budget DSLR with a great range of controls and superb high ISO performance

Canon has Maria Sharapova. Nikon has the Nikon Kid. He's that twenty-something guy who needs a shave and beams after every shot he takes with a Nikon D60. Is the message here you can take great pictures with a digital SLR even if you don't know how to...

Nikon D60 Review

Nikon is keen to grow in the budget DSLR area and one way of doing this is to lure compact users

Impressive features, great build quality, compact size, great user control, good for beginners

Everything's menu accessed and the grip's too small for me but that's about it

There's a lot to love and a superb amount of user control mixed with good auto functions for the less experienced user Yes! I like this camera. A lot. I also like its compact size for street photography. It's more unobtrusive than many DSLRs and people...
