Nikon's entry-level SLR offers huge resolution at a tempting price
Excellent value ; Great performance for entry-level camera ; High resolution at low price
High levels of image noise ; Awkward manual focusing with kit lens ; No built-in Wi-Fi
To pair with the D3300, Nikon unveiled a new retractable kit lens, the F-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens, an impressively sharp number with a minimum focus distance of 25cm (when manually focusing; 28cm with AF). As the camera lacks a...

Is the Nikon D3300 still the entry-level DSLR to beat?
High pixel count ; No optical low-pass filter ; Excellent Guide Mode ; Easy to use ; Great value
Fixed LCD ; Screen not touch-sensitive ; Few direct controls ; Limited connectivity options
The Nikon D3300 was until very recently our pick of entry-level DSLRs. It certainly ticks a lot of boxes for first time users - the 24MP sensor delivers great images, it's easy to use, has an impressive battery life and is backed-up by an impressive...

The Nikon D3300 is the brand's latest entry level DSLR camera
Compact retracatble lens ; Great guide mode ; Excellent picture quality
Fixed LCD ; No touchscreen ; No Wi-Fi

These days choosing a camera around £500 is tricky. You can pick a DSLR like the Nikon D3300, or you could go for a mirrorless Micro Four Thirds camera, or even a top-spec compact instead. That makes the selection process even harder than ever before....
Compact, lightweight, great image quality, reasonably priced
Little has changed since the D3200, competition from Canon 1200D and CSCs
We wouldn't go so far as to describe £550 as a bargain, but we do really like what the D3300 offers for the price. The new collapsible kit lens is great, especially for the kind of people buying this camera. As with all kit lenses though, the speed is...

The D3300 has a pro DSLR brain but an entry-level DSLR body. Is that a match made in photographic heaven or just a bit confusing?
Superb stills ; Really useful Guide mode ; Compact kit lens
Lack of dedicated controls ; No touch- or flip-out screen ; Hardly an entry-level price
You’ll get great photos from the Nikon D3300, but only beginners need apply

The controls are well thought out and the display is one of the best we've used, adopting the three digital rings of Nikon's other DSLRs, which rotate in sync to show how changes to aperture, shutter or sensitivity affect the other parameters.
All in all, you get an awful lot of camera for not much money with the Nikon D3300, making it an excellent choice if you're new to DSLRs. We'd like a few extra focus points for greater flexibility, but other than that there's much to like – not least...

The company's latest entry-level model delivers the speed and photo quality you expect when stepping up from a point-and-shoot
The ; 's photo quality improves on its predecessor, and while it's not incredibly fast it performs pretty well for its price class.
The feature set remains pretty limited.
Very good photo quality for its class plus decent performance make the Nikon D3300 A solid choice for a first dSLR.

One of the first entry-level DSLRs without a low pass filter, the Nikon D3300 has a 24.2 MP DX-format CMOS sensor, an ISO range from 100-12,800, with a 1EV push available, and 5 frames-per-second shooting rate. Stills and 1080p Full HD videos can be...

The Nikon D3300 is an updated version of the entry-level D3200 DSLR. It's a 24 megapixel camera offered at a keen price that puts pressure on its rivals. We've been impressed by previous versions of this camera; it's easy to use, and has a great...

With fierce competition from CSCs, entry-level DSLRs have to offer a lot at a very competitive price. The Nikon D3300 has a fairly straightforward set of features when you look at its metering and AF systems, 95% viewfinder and no built-in Wi-Fi, but...
