Nikon's latest compact is easy to hold and use, but it's a bit pricey.

Nikon's latest 12MP compact brings a curvy design, anti-blur shooting and 7x optical zoom. Is it a match for Sony and Canon?
Impressive anti-blur modes and a smart 7x optical zoom, but washed out colours hold it back

Test review of the Nikon Coolpix S630 digital camera
Expert review by (cameras.co.uk)
The main attraction of this camera is it offers some extra zoom in a small body. Picture quality is good and I found the camera very easy to use. You also have access to image stabilisation and a 2.7 inch LCD screen.
Ease of use - colours - extra zoom for small size
Zoom has small number of steps - shutter lag for multiple shots
The Nikon Coolpix S630 does the job it sets out to do. The extra zoom it offers over other smaller cameras comes in handy and I like the fact the camera is easy to use.

It's got a quirky design, 7x optical zoom and several image stabilisation systems, but there's little else to distinguish it from other models at this price point.
With a recommended price tag of almost £300, the Nikon Coolpix S630 is no budget offering, but when compared with other models in the same price bracket, it doesn't offer a great deal more. Sure, you get a 7x optical zoom, but we think a model offering...

One of four new S-Series launches from Nikon, the S630 focus is on style and simplicity, but we cut through the sass to see if it's a solid buy or a useless piece of eye-candy…
A stylish compact that is capable of producing sharp results and is easy to operate. Perhaps pitching slightly above its weight in terms of price tag, but when the price drops this will be a good investment for consumers wanting better quality images.

The Nikon Coolpix S630 curves like a Falcata, but is it as sharp as it's design? Matt Grayson finds out.
Good colours; Good flash performance; Fast response; Nice design; Good low ISO results
Fringing on low contrast areas

A 12-megapixel Nikon digital camera with an 11 frames-per-second continuous shooting mode and a 7x optical zoom.
7x optical zoom, sturdy, 11 frames-per-second burst mode
Lens isn't wide enough, images are somewhat soft, scroll wheel and camera shape take some getting used to
The CoolPix S630 isn't one of Nikon's best digital cameras. With sub-par image quality and an unconventional shape, it fails to be anything other than halfway decent. Still, if you're in need of a powerful optical zoom and a versatile continuous...

The Nikon Coolpix S630 packs a generous 7x optical zoom lens in a body small enough to slip into most pockets.
Fast 7x optical zoom lens. Solid wide-angle image quality. Comfortable, ergonomic design. Negligible shutter lag. Low noise at high ISOs (up to ISO 800).
Images are soft and color fringing occurs when zoomed in. Sluggish face detection. Underwhelming user interface.
