The X-E2 isn't designed to appeal to novice photographers, but many enthusiasts will love it. The key features are within easy reach, there's an excellent viewfinder and the images are also superb – especially the raw files.

So-so battery life, autofocus not flawless, continuous autofocus is slow, still too easy to knock exposure compensation dial

The Fujifilm X-E2 gets plenty right. Although, ultimately, it's a subtle upgrade compared to its predecessor.

The ; delivers the same excellent photo quality as the X-E1, with a more streamlined design and slightly better performance.

It's still not terribly fast, especially for action, and the feature set remains relatively average. Plus you really don't want to use it for shooting video unless you're very careful about frame rates.

It delivers great images and is still fun to shoot with, but the Fujifilm X-E2 isn't a no-brainer upgrade over the X-E1 and other cameras outfeature it.

Semi professional compact system camera adds an eye level viewfinder built in, and rangefinder-like controls, plus a build quality reminiscent of an even pricier Leica camera, APS-C sensor and decent glass can translate into knock-out imagery

Pricey if you don’t need an eye level viewfinder, and, in requiring a period of familiarisation from the get go, it’s less easy for newbies to get to grips with than the likes of the X-A1
