Fujifilm X-E2

Fujifilm's second-gen CSC is even more accomplished than the first

Fantastic image quality ; Impressive kit lens ; Solid build and premium finish

Wi-Fi features half-baked ; No touchscreen

The X-E2 ships with an 18-55mm f/2.8-4 kit lens that’s one of the best on the market, with the fast f/2.8 maximum aperture available between 18-20mm as well as featuring Fujifilm’s OIS stabilisation system.

Fujifilm X-E2 review

The Fujifilm X-E2 is a premium rangefinder-like compact digital camera

Semi-pro build and handling ; Elegantly classic design ; High-res EVF

Takes time to get used to ; Pricey

Fuji X-E2 review

The build we love, but with faster responses and better image quality

EVF built-in ; 920,000-dot LCD ; Faster responses ; Improved AF system

Fixed screen ; No touchscreen ; Advanced Filters are 'JPEG only'

The X-E2 isn't designed to appeal to novice photographers, but many enthusiasts will love it. The key features are within easy reach, there's an excellent viewfinder and the images are also superb – especially the raw files.

Fujifilm X-E2 review

As companies clamour to deliver the best possible camera solutions, sometimes all it takes is a little bit of polish and effort on a manufacturer's behalf to buff out the apparent spec sheet blemishes of an older model to deliver a winning ticket. And...

Image quality leads the way, retro design, decent screen and viewfinder, solid build quality, lenses with hands-on aperture controls, improves upon predecessor with success

So-so battery life, autofocus not flawless, continuous autofocus is slow, still too easy to knock exposure compensation dial

The Fujifilm X-E2 gets plenty right. Although, ultimately, it's a subtle upgrade compared to its predecessor.

Hands-on: Fujifilm X-E2 review - Pocket-lint

Why hello there good lookin'. The Fujifilm X-E2, the compact system camera to succeed the earlier X-E1 model, may be a little older but it's lost none

Fujifilm X-E2: Faster and better-designed

You either pick up the X-E2 and fall in love with it and its photos, or you pass.

The ; delivers the same excellent photo quality as the X-E1, with a more streamlined design and slightly better performance.

It's still not terribly fast, especially for action, and the feature set remains relatively average. Plus you really don't want to use it for shooting video unless you're very careful about frame rates.

It delivers great images and is still fun to shoot with, but the Fujifilm X-E2 isn't a no-brainer upgrade over the X-E1 and other cameras outfeature it.

Fujifilm X-E2 review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Fujifilm X-E2 is another of the company's stylish retro compact system cameras, coming in below the flagship X-T1 and above the entry-level X-M1. It's a beautiful-looking camera with bags of old-school rangefinder appeal, and it's reasonably...

Fujifilm X-E2 review

One of Fuji's newest compact system cameras alongside its mighty X-T1, the even more ‘classic' in appearance X-E2 , which naturally updates the X-E1, also features a DSLR-sized APS-C sensor at its heart. Here again we're provided with a 16.3 megapixel...

Semi professional compact system camera adds an eye level viewfinder built in, and rangefinder-like controls, plus a build quality reminiscent of an even pricier Leica camera, APS-C sensor and decent glass can translate into knock-out imagery

Pricey if you don’t need an eye level viewfinder, and, in requiring a period of familiarisation from the get go, it’s less easy for newbies to get to grips with than the likes of the X-A1

Fujifilm X-E2 review

The Fujifilm X-E2 is very well equipped for the enthusiast photographer at whom it is targeted and, in many ways, it's the camera we wish the X-E1 had been. Fujifilm has addressed the concerns many had with the earlier model, like the ageing 2.8in....
