Canon PowerShot S95

Canon's new advanced compact is faster and more feature-packed.

Although the S95 is only a small improvement over the already excellent S90, the combination of small improvements do add up to a significantly better camera. Overall performance could still use some improvement, but creative versatility and more...

Canon PowerShot S95 review

Is the S95 yet another Canon compact for serious photographers?

Small ; Good quality images ; Good build quality

Lack of selectable autofocus points ; No ISO button ; No movie button

The Canon Powershot S95 was released a little over a year after its predecessor, the Canon S90, was announced.

Canon PowerShot S95

The Canon PowerShot S95 updates the S90 , one of our favourite cameras of 2009. It occupies the same position at the top of Canon's compact range, theoretically slotting in under the G12. It shares many features of the G12 that will appeal to more...

Manual control and RAW shooting, some fun auto features too, great quality images, plenty of control

Battery life a little short, video is nothing to get excited about

Gripes are few with the Canon PowerShot S95, but following up on the excellent S90, that’s to be expected. We’ve seen the improvement of the video offering, but it certainly isn’t the most sophisticated video shooting compact out there.

Slimmer and more sophisticated than ever before, Canon's top-end snapper shoots for the compact crown

Canon PowerShot S95 review

The Canon PowerShot SX1 IS may just be the best featured point and shoot camera you can buy.

It's hard not to like the Canon PowerShot S95. It feels solidly built and its manual features are easy to use for the most part. We love the focus tracking feature and the overall swiftness of the camera — it can take photos very quickly — and it has...

Canon PowerShot S95 review

There are not too many reasons to upgrade from a PowerShot S90 to the PowerShot S95, as many of the differences are refinements rather than outright changes. However, intuitive manual controls using the improved lens control ring in the later model will...

Canon Powershot S95

The Canon Powershot S95 features a 1/1.63inch CCD sensor, this is larger than the majority of sensors, and should enable lower noise. Other useful features include optical image stabilisation, and an f/2.0 lens at the wide end of the 3.8x optical zoom...

Canon PowerShot S95

A manual control compact with plenty of impressive features

Full manual controls, excellent sharpness and tone, HD video

Control dial responsiveness, price, occasional cast on white balance

The expense may be a stumbling block for some, but the Powershot S95 takes some absolutely stunning images, and the full manual control lens ring is especially useful. For those who'll use it to its full capacity the S95 will impress.

Canon Powershot S95

The Canon Powershot S95 is a great little camera. Picture quality is spot on and there are not many cameras offering so many features in such a small body. I really like the colours it produces. The sharpness of the photos it delivers is eye catching.

Although there is a premium to pay I really like this type of camera. The Canon Powershot S95 is small enough to fit comfortably into a medium sized pocket yet has a good all round set of features. Picture quality is a level above cheaper options. I...
