Canon EOS 6D

Canon's cheapest full-frame DSLR delivers great image quality and solid performance

Excellent image quality ; Impressive low-light performance ; Intuitive Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS support ; Solid and robust build quality ; Accurate metering system

Only one cross-type AF sensor ; No built-in pop-up flash ; GPS and Wi-Fi drain battery life ; No manual audio control for HD video

Canon EOS 6D review

We test Canon's most affordable full-frame DSLR

Enthusiast-centric controls ; Remote control via Wi-Fi ; GPS technology ; High image quality

No flash ; Lacks some connections ; 97% viewfinder coverage ; Limited viewfinder overlay

All things considered, the Canon EOS 6D is an excellent choice for the enthusiast and club photographer looking for a full-frame DSLR. These users will find that they have just about everything they need, and a bit more besides.

Canon EOS 6D review

The Canon EOS 6D is its smallest, lightest and most affordable full frame DSLR

Full-frame chip ; Proper photographic control ; Wi-Fi picture transfer

Pricey if you're not a pro

Canon EOS 6D

The Canon EOS 6D might sound like the dream ticket for full-frame DSLR aspirers. It's the first time that Canon's dipped its toe into the "budget" full-frame pond. But, to be realistic, its £1600 body-only asking price is still more the cash equivalent...

Full-frame image quality, EOS Utility wireless shooting via computer has potential, view images from camera using smartphone device on location, smallest and lightest full-frame DSLR

Limited autofocus points, central-arrangement of autofocus points, just one SD card slot, no rear joystick-like control, no clean HDMI output, Wi-Fi just isn't user friendly, being forced to use Canon Image Gateway is irritating

The Canon EOS 6D leaves a lot to be considered; it raises as many questions as it answers on the budget full-frame front.

We knew it was coming, but a brief hands-on play with the just-announced Canon EOS 6D has confirmed to the 'Lint that it looks to be a top-notch full-frame

A full-frame snapper that'll give you pro results minus the pro price tag.

Canon EOS 6D review

Canon's DSLR line-up is becoming increasingly busy. As well as the so-called 'beginners' range, which now comprises four traditional DSLRs and the mirrorless EOS M , it's got so many pro and semi-pro models that it's had to split the upper part of its...

Image quality; Full frame sensor; Built in wifi; Built in GPS.

Limited autofocus points; No built-in flash.

It isn't pocket money, but the EOS 6D nonetheless puts full-frame features within reach of the more ambitious enthusiast photographer. I'd have happily swapped the GPS and Wifi for more autofocus points, but it's nonetheless a great body that captures...

Canon EOS 6D review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Canon EOS 6D is Canon's most affordable full-frame DSLR, with a 20.2Mp sensor the same size as a 35mm film frame. 20.2Mp isn't a high resolution by the standards of other full-frame cameras, with 36Mp cameras now appearing and 24Mp cameras...

Canon EOS 6D review

Like the EOS 650D, which has a touchscreen and hybrid AF system, Canon has been bold again in introducing new technology into one of its DSLRs, in this case GPS and Wi-Fi to the EOS 6D. Thankfully, both features work very well and enhance the...

Canon's smallest, lightest and cheapest full frame DSLR squares up to Nikon's D600

Canon’s cheapest full frame sensor DSLR for those amateurs after optimum results from the 35mm format, solid feel build yet manageable handling, on-board wireless transfer of images and the ability to control the camera remotely via iPad, built-in GPS...

Size and bulk will still mark you out as a professional so not the best option for candid street photography, expensive if you won’t feel the benefit of that full frame sensor

For anyone who has previously thought they’d have to go the second hand route to afford a full frame DSLR like an EOS 5D Mark III or 1DX – or who wasn’t keen on the bulk usually associated with a pro model – this Canon offers a brand new alternative...
