Canon EOS 1200D review

The Canon EOS 1200D is the brand's latest DSLR for beginners

Sturdy body ; Large 18-megapixel sensor ; Handy companion app

Modest burst shooting speed ; Non-tilting (fixed) LCD ; No wireless connectivity

Canon 1200D review

Maybe this will be the next Bailey's first camera?

Affordable ; Textured coating ; Optical viewfinder

Slow focusing in Live View ; No touchscreen ; No Wi-Fi/NFC

Ratings in depth Despite the low price points, the entry level of the DSLR market is very important for building customer loyalty.

Canon EOS 1200D review

The entry-level DSLR market has slowed in terms of product releases in recent years. Indeed it's taken three years for Canon to out the 1200D - that's Rebel T5 for our American friends - and while we don't mind waiting for the right kit to come along...

Decent viewfinder-based performance for entry-level product, impressive image quality throughout, huge range of EOS lenses available, competitive price

Live view is poor, JPEG processing is a little harsh, plasticky build, compact system cameras may undermine its existence, kit lens limitations

The Canon EOS 1200D holds enough weight to keep the entry-level DSLR market relevant, although with compact system cameras adding an additional option it's not as cut and dry as it once was.

Canon EOS 1200D pictures and hands-on - Pocket-lint

It's been a full three years since Canon last put out an entry-level DSLR camera, but in 2014 it's back in business with the EOS 1200D. The replacement

Canon Rebel T5/EOS 1200D fails to impress

You can find better deals than this umpteenth repackaging of years-old technology.

While it doesn't stand out particularly, the Canon EOS Rebel T5 does produce nice photos typical of its price class, its performance isn't bad, and it has a comfortable design.

The feature set is limited, even by entry-level standards.

While it's a perfectly fine camera when you're making the jump from a point-and-shoot, there are better choices than the Canon EOS Rebel T5.

Canon IXUS 300 IS review

The Canon IXUS 300 IS digital camera is somewhat confusing: the HS at the end of its name denotes neither high speed nor high sensitivity. However, it supports both high-speed video capture and has a high sensitivity lens that allows it to take photos...

Canon Ixus cameras have become a benchmark for compact cameras. The Canon IXUS 300 IS is no exception. It delivers clean and clear images and video footage across a range of shooting and light conditions and is a joy to use. With some fun functions to...

Quick Review: Canon EOS 1200D

Canon tries to entice first-time DSLR buyers with a solid offering that comes with its own app.

Good price; solid image quality; Companion App is helpful

No in-menu explanation; ISO not to be used past 1600; Low resolution on LCD display

The 1200D does exactly what you expect a R6000 entry-level camera to do, providing one with solid image quality and a handy companion app. Having said that, it hardly pushes the limits, and if you have a R1 000 or so extra, rather go for the smaller...

Canon EOS 1200D review

Canon's 18 megapixel APS-C format sensor incorporating EOS 1200D is an imaginative update of its 12 megapixel 1100D predecessor. The obvious pitch is that first time DSLR owners will be able to achieve more professional results straight out of the box,...

Affordable, well built, capable of professional looking results for a budget price, intuitive operation

Fixed LCD screen only, no built-in wireless connectivity, maximum capture speed is modest if you’re attempting action shots

Canon EOS 1200D review

When compared with the Canon EOS 100D, Nikon D3300 and Pentax K-5, the Canon EOS 1200D does not exactly overwhelm in terms of specification, and neither does it excel in any given area. However, the current RRP of this camera is £349.99 body only, so...
