A 16.1MP snapper with face detection and 5x optical zoom
Great overall image quality ; Compact ; Solid build ; Easy operation
Some controls too small ; Limited creatively ; Slight image compromises
Earlier this year, Canon announced several new additions to its highly popular IXUS range of stylish, ultra-portable compact cameras.

Announced alongside the previously reviewed Canon IXUS 500 HS but £80 cheaper, the 125 HS (High Sensitivity) pocket snapshot is no mere doppelganger. Apart from its offering a near credit card sized width and height, plus the fashion-conscious exterior...
Stylish good looks, lightweight metal build, simple and straightforward to use for everyday snaps and HD videos, slots unobtrusively into trouser pocket or handbag
Commands a price premium, so-so battery life, flimsy cover to HDMI/USB/AV ports, mono sound
Though the exterior looks beautiful, the headline specification here is fairly run of the mill for a fully auto pocket snapshot in 2012: a 16 megapixel sensor plus a 5x optical zoom, backed up by Full HD video with mono sound and HDMI output.

The Canon IXUS 125 HS is a tiny little point-and-shoot camera. It's so small that if you stick it in your pocket you may well forget it's in there – and that'd be a great shame, as it's a brilliantly capable snapper.

The Canon PowerShot Elph 110 HS doesn't look all that different from its predecessor, the Elph 100 HS , and that's because it's not. At least on the outside. On the inside are a new 16-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor and Digic 5 image...
Canon's PowerShot Elph 110 HS is small and lightweight with a bright, ultrawide-angle lens and lots of fun shooting options, and can produce some very nice photos and movie clips.
The 110 HS has a relatively short battery life and mixed shooting performance, and low-light/high-ISO photos can look very soft.
Filled with some of Canon's latest technology and shooting modes, the PowerShot Elph 110 HS is a solid ultracompact camera.

Canon's IXUS range of compacts has always been suitably stylish and oh so svelte. The IXUS 125 HS is no different, providing strong design, build and specification – but is it style over...

The slim and compact 16-megapixel Canon PowerShot Elph 110 HS boasts a very sharp, wide lens, but is hampered by noise at higher ISO settings and a limited zoom range.
Sharp 24mm wide-angle lens. Fast focus and continuous shooting. Compact.
Limited zoom range. So-so high ISO performance. Noisy zoom.
Performance and Conclusions Like other Canon cameras that bear the HS moniker, the Elph 110 HS does a good job in terms of speed. It can start up and grab a shot in about 2.1 seconds, records a 0.2-second shutter lag, and can shoot continuously with...

The Canon PowerShot ELPH 110 HS performs well for the price -- it's fast, boasts high image quality, and shoots full HD video. Attractive shooting modes and a high-resolution LCD make both shooting and browsing images enjoyable. If having a wide-angle...

5x optical zoom range can be limiting ; Noisy zoom can be heard during video playback ; Smooth Skin mode can look unattractive
