Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11 Review: Next Gen ION is Better & Worse than ION1

The nForce 2 was one of the best chipsets to come out of NVIDIA. It was NVIDIA's second attempt at a desktop chipset yet it cemented NVIDIA's position as a leading provider of core logic in the market. Oh how much has changed since then.

By not including native H.264 decode acceleration in

Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11

To get busy with the HD-ID11 you'll need to add a 2.5-inch Serial ATA drive and DDR2 memory modules

The HD-ID11 is an impressive barebones that can be turned into a competent rig with the right components.

Zotac ZBox (HD-ID11) Mini PC Review

Back at CES 2009 we were shown a product at the Nvidia booth which, to this day, is still one of the most impressive we have seen at any show. It was clear from the short while we spent looking at the item that it would be a complete game changer. That...

Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11 Review

Zotac's latest generation of nettops are marked as the ZBOX series, taking over from the last generation of MAG branded nettops. There's a whole range of different models in the ZBOX series from Intel Atom / ION models to AMD / ATI models, and...

Silent (after firmware upgrade) ; Ports – HDMI, DVI (dual screen setup is okay) and S/PDIF optical out ; Simple to upgrade ; Stands vertically or horizontally ; 1080p HD video and Flash content plays flawlessly

Gets very hot ; Poor Wi-Fi reception ; Need to buy parts (for barebones models)

The Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11 is an excellent nettop, handling 1080p HD video with ease, provides all the ports that you need, allows for screwdriver free upgrading, and gives decent performance for casual use all in a totally silent package. Very...

ZOTAC ZBox HD-ID11 and Next Gen ION

Nettop PCs are sort of a re-purposing of a product category that was popularized in the business world, formerly known as "thin clients." Though thin client PCs are relatively "dumb" machines that rely on enterprise intranet services and servers to...

Great Nettop Performance ; Low Power Consumption ; Great HD Video Playback ; A Bit of Gaming Under The Hood ; Respectable Media Conversion ; Stylishly Built

Needs External Optical Drive ; Barebones Config, Requires Memory and Hard Drive ; Single SODIMM Socket

Simply put, the ZOTAC Zbox offered the best Intel Atom-based computing experience we've seen from any product to hit the market thus far. The Zbox excelled over both single and dual-core Atom variants we tested, even those infused with the previous...

Disappointed!

I would like to think that Zotac would help me out considering I have purchased over 35 ZBOX's (25 of them from NewEgg). I cannot beleive I cannot buy a replacement motherboard either!

These little Zotac's are great workstations. Easy to setup, low power consumption. I have bought over 35 Zotac ZBOX's since last year

Zotac will not help me with motherboard that went bad one month after the warranty ended and they told me that they dont sell replacement motherboards for the ZBOX's
