WinBook Jiv Mini

The surprisingly small and elegant WinBook JiV Mini is a Microsoft Windows Media Center system geared to fit into your existing entertainment center. The system did a reasonable job at recording and playing back digital content, but it lacks the...

Easy to record TV ; Super-compact chassis

Small hard drive ; No way to expand the system internally

Super-compact Media Center fits well in tight spaces and works well with digital media. But it can't be expanded.

WinBook Jiv Mini review: WinBook Jiv Mini

One of the smallest PCs we've ever seen; includes built-in TV tuner; less than 3 pounds; great design; includes both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

More expensive than competing Core Duo small-form-factor systems; fixed configuration; hard to upgrade.

With tons of features, including a TV tuner, built-in Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, packed into a tiny case, the WinBook Jiv Mini impresses with its features-per-square-inch ratio. We've not seen more features stuffed into such a small case.

WinBook Jiv Mini

The wonderfully designed WinBook Jiv Mini ($1,200 direct, without monitor) Media Center PC is the perfect home-theater PC—not just because of its small size, but because it's powerful and has all the ports you need. If you've got a hankering for a...

Compact, attractive, quiet. Media Center with integrated IR sensor. Integrated wireless networking (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g and Bluetooth 2.0). Intel Viiv and Intel Vista compatible

Not enough hard drive space. Microsoft wireless keyboard's pointing stick is awkward

The WinBook Jiv Mini wins Editors' Choice as the best mini PC Media Center. It can easily hook up to most TVs, perform DVR duties, play back your music, and act as a digital photo album.

WinBook Jiv Mini

When we first received WinBook's Viiv-ready Jiv (both words rhyme with five—go figure), we realized that we didn't really know exactly what it meant to be a “Viiv” PC. And remember, we pride ourselves on knowing the difference between an AMB and AMT.

Almost silent and unobtrusive, the Jiv should fit anywhere

Low-capacity hard drive and pathetic graphics power make this a TV-only device

That leaves the Jiv in a tough spot. We like the concept and compact size of this machine but the poor graphics and small hard drive make it a tough pill to swallow.
