Velocity Micro Edge Z30 SmallBlock

Compact yet powerful, the Velocity Micro Edge Z30 SmallBlock mid-range gaming desktop offers outsized gaming performance. There's not much room for future upgrades, but with this sort of performance, who needs it?

Velocity Micro Edge Z30 SmallBlock

Compact yet powerful, the Velocity Micro Edge Z30 SmallBlock mid-range gaming desktop offers outsized gaming performance. There's not much room for future upgrades, but with this sort of performance, who needs it?

Compact design. Quad-core CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 offer excellent performance. Lots of storage space thanks to a 250GB SSD and 2TB hard drive.

Runs hot. Minimal room for maintenance and expansion.

The Velocity Micro Edge Z30 SmallBlock is a compact take on a familiar system, but the combination of the small design, the strong performance and relatively affordable price keep it on our shortlist. While the Maingear Potenza Super Stock remains our...

Velocity Micro Edge Z30

The Z30 supports dual SLI graphics cards in case you want to drop in another GTX 260 graphics card, and it of course supports the installed 8GB of RAM. Since the Core i7-860 has a lower Thermal Design Profile (and hence, lower power consumption) than...

Great bang for the buck performance. New Core i7 processor (codenamed "Lynnfield"). No Bloatware. Nice internal cable routing and windowed case

No security software included. Case fan noise

The Velocity Micro Edge Z30 gives you performance that used to require a $5,000 system with multiple graphics cards. The constant march of technology gives the hard-core gamer a power system for under $1,300.

Velocity Micro Edge Z30 (Intel Core i7 875K) review: Velocity Micro Edge Z30 (Intel Core i7 875K)

Velocity Micro Edge Z30 (Intel Core i7 875K)

Overclocked Intel CPU; fast graphics card; strong gaming and application performance; customary solid build quality.

Case design getting a bit long in the tooth; so-so upgrade path; no weekend hours for phone support.

Velocity Micro's Edge Z30 offers a speedy, spare take on Intel's new overclockable K-Series CPUs. We noticed some unfortunate reductions to Velocity's support and it feels about time for a case refresh, but for the most part we can recommend the Edge...

Velocity Micro Edge Z30 (Intel Core i7) review: Velocity Micro Edge Z30 (Intel Core i7)

Velocity Micro Edge Z30 (Intel Core i7)

Best value among midrange gaming PCs; Velocity Micro's consistently high build quality; compact case makes few sacrifices; second graphics card slot previously uncommon at this price.

Might need to dial down game image quality on 24-inch displays at full resolution

Velocity Micro's Edge Z30 is the best deal going right now for midlevel gaming PCs featuring Intel's new Core i7 chips. The overclocked Core i7 860, a fast Nvidia graphics card, and a solid selection of features all around make it easy for us to...

The Velocity Micro Edge Z30 and the Falcon Northwest Talon Desktops

Today we will sneak a peek at two gaming PCs. First we'll look at the Velocity Micro Edge Z30, a mid-range gaming system, and then we'll examine the higher end Falcon Northwest Talon. Both differ in price and performance, but each does well when...

The Z30 has a maximum 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM and also comes with a 1TB hard drive for plenty of storage space. It comes with a fast NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 graphics card that performs well, with the only exception being if you want to run a graphics...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Very satisfied

I popped in a Soundblaster Xtremegamer card, but the onboard is probably enough. I spec'ed the same components on my own, just to see if I wanted to build one. I only would have saved 150-200$. In my opinion its worth having these guys build for you...

Great specs for the price ; No bloatware (infamous Dell and HP)

I did not get a new monitor LCD/LED TV. Still using 22inch LG LCDTV (720p) ; USB ports at front are on the side/edge of front casing. Only on one side (wish there were some ports on both sides so you can choose)
