Shuttle SX58H7 review

Good barebones come in small packages, apparently

Fantastic space management ; Great visuals and quiet ; Stick a 990X EE in it

Just keep blowing on it

For gamers with realistic budgets, it's a great place to start a system that'll fit anywhere, and as a workstation it's ideal.

Shuttle XPC SX58H7

Review Shuttle has managed a feat of engineering with the XPC SX58H7. It has shoehorned a Core i7 motherboard into a small(ish) form-factor case - it measures 325 x 208 x 189mm - of the kind we've seen on models such as the SP45H7 [1].

The Shuttle SX58H7 is brutally expensive but that's a fact of life with Core i7 hardware. However, the price is offset by low noise levels, stylish design and excellent cooling. ®

Shuttle XPC SX58H7

Shuttle have been in existence since 1983 when they began manufacturing motherboards and by 1995 they were the fifth largest motherboard manufacturer on the planet. In 1998 they created the world's first 17x17cm board which would pave the way for the...

It is clear as soon as the SX58H7 is unboxed that this is a quality system. The finish is flawless and with the front top and sides all being high shine with silver trim it should look at home in any environment. The fact that the system has no visible...

Shuttle, the popular barebones manufacturer, has just released the SX587H Pro Station, a barebones system featuring the latest Intel X58 chipset supporting the fastest Core i7 processors.

Quite Possibly the Best PC Ever

This is my 4 Shuttle PC and I still love this brand, all of the Capacitors are solid metal (not Electrolytic) so they last about 5x as long as usual, meaning the PC will not go back from leaking caps. Unless I need another one, I will continue to ride...

Still going VERY strong in 2016 from 2009 Can actually upgrade to 8GB DDR3 ram (x3 or x4) for 24GB or 32GB Can Overclock even the i7-920 to 3.5GHz using stock cooler. If no optical, can fit 2x 120mm Fans + Water Cooled Radiator for CPU (can overclock...

Has many USB2.0 ports, but no USB3.0 (not that I have a use for them). Stock cover for PC needs more ventilation to keep loaded PC cool (55C idle) CPU Runs fairly hot if air overclocked (80C is well within CPU specs max is 100C) No support for...

Unstable

I read the other posts and was excited about this box. I may just have received a lemon, but the instability scared me off. I did not try to adjust the PCI-e frequency to see if I could stabilize the video.

Small, relatively quiet

New build experienced BSoDs with three different graphics cards - even one on the machine's QVL, which are hard to find (most are old and out of stock). Needed that "one extra" 2.5" slot for a SSD

Mmmm...fast

This is the 2nd Shuttle I have owned. The 5 year old one simply could not cope with video editing due to age. Was time to get a new pc.

Fast and handles muti-tasking while playing WoW and video editing at the same time. Has ample USB ports for all the junk I stuck on my PC (usb audio, card reader, printer, scanner, etc). Mine runs pretty quiet and stacks handily on top of a shuttle...

Runs a bit hotter then I expected, but as its not really crashed or anything from it and it was during a heat wave when I first got it..well.. its done remarkably well for the heat it puts off. Was hard to find a good graphics card that would work...

Shuttle XPC SX58H7-PRO

As powerful as any Full Sized Desktop

I7 960 6gb Gskill DDR3 (2) Intel X-25M 80GB Raid 0 GTX 295

Small, powerful and quiet. I have built many Shuttle XPC's as my primary gaming rigs over the past several years and this one is hands down the fastest. 500W PSU Can easily handle most high end dual slot video cards

Sata Motherboard connectors aren't secured well and can pop off easily

Shuttle SX58H7

Little screamer.. This is my 3rd Shuttle and the best by far. i7-920, 6 gig ram, 2 Hitachi 2 terabyte drives, 1 LG blue-ray burner, and Ge Force GT 240 video Its fairly quiet, The 3 e-satas with 1 power take off are handy,

Price. Also had problem with blue-ray drive eject button not lining up with case button but was easy to fix with a small modification. Video card covers second pci-express slot. (probably to be expected with most video cards)
