MSI Trident X Review: Stunning speed from new Intel and Nvidia hardware – and a surprisingly small design

Superb CPU power ; Fast Turing GPU ; Small, good-looking enclosure ; 32GB of RAM

Expensive ; Underwhelming motherboard ; No easy upgrade paths

Incredible speeds and smart design, but it's expensive – and more conventional PCs are more versatile.

MSI Trident X review

Fast, small and expensive – a tiny triumph

Exceptional performance ; Slim, small design ; Cool and quiet operation

Quite expensive ; Tricky, cramped internals

Intel Coffee Lake-S and Nvidia Turing deliver formidable power in a surprisingly small space – but you’ll have to pay quite a large sum for it. The new components deliver formidable performance. The Turing GPU pelted through games benchmarks with...

MSI MEG Trident X Review: Mighty and Slim

The MSI Trident X is a powerful, thin gaming PC that you can upgrade later with off-the-shelf parts.

Excellent gaming performance ; All standardized parts ; Compact design

Too much bloatware ; Needs tools to open

The MSI Trident X is a powerful gaming PC in a thin chassis. It uses standardized parts, so you can upgrade it later, though you’ll need a screwdriver to do so.

MSI Trident X (i7-9700K & RTX 2080) System Review

MSI's Trident line of PCs has been around for some time now, and it is known for cramming the latest Looking for a new console-killer desktop PC? The MSI Trident X could be just the thing

Very compact.

Tempered glass panel on the right hand side of the machine seems odd.

The MSI Trident X is an excellent machine with good all-round performance and very low noise levels. It doesn’t come cheap, but this one of the best compact pre-built systems I have reviewed.

MSI Trident X Review

Boasting an Intel Core i7-9700K processor alongside an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, MSI have certainly put effort into shoehorning this horsepower into a small machine but can it satisfy the needs of game...

MSI MEG Trident X (2020) Review

Sleek and compact ; Quiet cooling fans ; Reasonably priced ; Support for both Thunderbolt 3 and Wi-Fi 6 ; Better-than-average bundled keyboard and mouse

Complicated disassembly for upgrades ; No AMD Ryzen version

MSI’s MEG Trident X packs gaming-tower power into a chassis a fraction of the size, without levying an exorbitant price premium.

MSI Trident X

While the Trident X may cast a small net, MSI's compact gaming PC does its job well, with top-notch performance at maximum settings and above-average upgrade potential.

High-end gaming performance in a slim, compact chassis. Loads of storage. Uses standard, upgrade-ready parts. Close-to-60fps rates at 4K in recent AAA games.

Niche target audience. Overkill for most gaming scenarios. Case includes a lot of plastic.

Bottom Line: While the Trident X may cast a small net, MSI's compact gaming PC does its job well, with top-notch performance at maximum settings and above-average upgrade potential.

MSI Trident X review: It's easy to make a strong case for this gaming desktop

It's not cheap but it's far from overpriced, and the spec-sheet on the MSI Trident X ticks far too many boxes to get tripped up by lacklustre looks.

Great performance ; Ready to play in seconds

Boring looks ; None of MSI's usual perks
