MSI Nightblade X2 Review

Powered by Intel Skylake with its Core i7-6700K. The Nightblade X2 (X2-007UK) promises to give gamers a high-performance system inside a compact and portable shell.

MSI Nightblade x2

Bearing an up-to-date motherboard and capable of housing a full-length video card, the MSI Nightblade x2 bare-bones system is designed for gamers who want to get a jump-start on their next build.

Lots of room for current-generation, heavy-duty gaming-oriented components. Attractive styling. Cables are prerouted.

Case cannot house all CPU coolers, and none is included with the system. Some video cards may not fit.

Really great portable Lan box by MSI!!

I would totally buy this again. Tight fit when everything goes in, however the Corsair H60 managed to fit. In order to fit I had to trim off some plastic on the side fan bracket. Be careful not to kink hoses putting everything back into box. This...

Nice design Small but sufficient power supply Was nice to have mobo pre-installed Sleeved cables. Nice layout.

Not much of a con, the mobo requires a screw type cooler. I installed a Corsair H60 liquid cooler. There is only only a total of two fan controllers on the mobo, so had to buy a fan splitter cable.

Great lil' Lanbox!

First, the quality of all the component impressed me. The paint is tough and thick, the plastics are good, even the screws are great, all black anodized steel screws with threadlock! This is a serious case you are getting, I worked with 200$ Lian-Li or...

- The general quality is absolutely awesome - Thread lock on the screws so they don't slack when you carry the thing around - Internal management among the best I have seen (more than 10 years of experience)

- Non-standard motherboard - Non-standard PSU - Could not boot from Windows 7 installation CD, had to make a UEFI USB drive - CPU bracket is threaded. You will have to use a cooler that screws from the top, or modify the bracket (or the cooler). You...

Stock Intel CPU cooler does not fit.

Without the cpu cooler from MSI this product is not functional.

Looks cool.

The motherboard has threaded holes for the cpu cooler and the retail boxed intel skylake processors have snap on cpu coolers that will not fit through securely. No online support from MSI for this product yet. I'll be calling tech support during the week.

why did they do that?

really nice case but lots of head aches for me due to the stupidity of blocking the stock heat sink/fan I just don't understand why?? every aftermarket heat sink come with their OWN back plates so again why MSI???

I really like the Nightblade original, built one for a friend and it runs like a dream with SSD's. Oh yes the X2 it looks really cool and happy to see the extra SSD slot open but that's about it.

1# - MSI.com do not make heat sinks so STOP making CPU back plates!! 2# Stock CPU heat sink dose NOT FIT!!! yes cut some piece off an old heat sink to make it fit bla bla Listen... I'm not building a house I'm trying to assemble a pc, MSI can you try...

Great case combo

Pretty good starter case + some components setup. Still requires some knowledge on PC building though. I wouldn't recommend it to someone that doesn't know how to build a PC from scratch already.

Nice small design, it's smaller than I had imagined, which is a plus to me. Good airflow, nice wifi/bluetooth card installed.

Hard to find a CPU cooler that fits the case properly. I ended up having to cut a half inch off the bracket my Zalman came with. Initially was going to use a Corsair H55, but it was too large. The specs say there are 2x M.2 slots, but one is occupied...

Not Ready For Primetime

I sent this back because of the lock ups. I have a Z97 Nightblade and I liked the X2 layout but it needs some tuning.

Case

Locked Up All The Time Tray Load DVD instead of Slot Load Motherboard appears generic or oem. There are no MSI markings on it. It does have MSI BIOS. No BIOS, Drivers, Manual, etc on MSI website
