HP is a late arrival at the Xeon 5500 party and in this exclusive review we see whether the wait for the new sixth generation ProLiants was worthwhile.
HP's sixth generation ProLiant DL380 builds on an already impressive reputation and delivers plenty of new features with power management and performance as key criteria. Storage potential is very good, power consumption is amongst the lowest we've...

There are apparently several issues with Flash Drives in the G7 servers (see also HP Document c02707749) but HP is refusing to acknowledge them because they would like you to spend $80 for an HP branded flash drive.
Clean looking system, racks install was quick and easy
Doesn't work with non-HP branded flash drives. HP Tech Support was downright rude and said that since we weren't using a HP branded flash drive we weren't using are hardware properly. The flash drive works fine in other servers, including older HP ones

We purchased this machine as an ESXi host and it works great in that role. it supports huge amounts of ram and has been very reliable so far
Consumer review (cdw.com)
this has been a rock solid machine for us. equipped with 2 raid controllers and 16 drives it works very well

We have a few of these and they really have some horsepower. Only one minor problem so far. One is running my company's main ERP system and the service to users has been better than we could have imagined. This is a highly recommended server.

Great server for a really great price. I have never ran into any major problems with these servers. Would recommend.

All new configuration. The SFF hard drives are unique, I can't mix them with any other HP SFF drives from previous models. New "Intelligent Provisioning" is like SmartStart built into firmware, which saves a lot of setup time - I don't have to scramble...

The Intel version of the original SAM-SD. This is a really nice unit as is the DL185. This has been replaced by the DL380 G8e. Good unit if you can find them.

Bought three of these at the same time and each one has given me issues, had a RAID battery die in one after just two years. Hard disks seem to want to overheat all the time, don't know if it's poor thermal design or just rubbish disks that HP keep...
