Just when you thought PCs couldn't get any smaller
Tiny form factor ; Good HD video playback ; Dual-channel memory support
Limited connectivity ; High price ; No RAM or HDD included
In Gigabyte's attempt to out-Intel the NUC, it's fallen into the same trap as its forbears: the Brix is just too darned small. Considering these aren't portable devices you can use on the go, what's the point in shaving every possible millimeter when...

From notebooks to homebrew gaming PC's and set top boxes, form factors are rapidly shrinking in an effort to keep pace with our increasingly space-cons
Conclusion; Challenges but Kaby Lake Shines Through There are two different aspects of this particular review: one of which showed how the BRIX

The Gigabyte Brix Gaming UHD small-form-factor desktop is an ideal space-saver with a minimalist design at a sensible price, but there are some caveats regarding power and upgrades.
Compact design. Upgradable storage. Packs reasonable power for its size.
GTX 950 is good for 1080p, but not an ideal card, and not upgradable. Not cost effective compared with slightly larger prebuilt PCs. Component installation a bit complicated.

For some time now Gigabyte have been creating and refining their ultra compact PCs, calling them BRIX. Now with the latest Intel i5 CPU and the option for high performance storage and memory we test one of their current models in our Gigabyte Brix S...
Looking first at the build quality and design of the Gigabyte Brix S we have a system which is discrete and compact. Its black chassis is easy to hide away, or mount out of sight. There are no garish LEDs and access to the internal components is very...
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Would be great if Gigabyte would respond with a phone number... I sure was not able to connect with them earlier today. I wonder if they actually go outside their site and try to lon into it from time to time.
See previous post.
Sorry for the typos on my past review post on this little compact system. I have to apologize for those typos, but it's after midnight after unboxing and attempting to complete installation since around 3 PM.
Consumer review (newegg.com)
I read some reviews that started people had issues installing "older" OSes like Windows 7 and using the provided tool that merges a Windows installation disk with required drivers to support the new Skylake chipset limitations for pre-3.0 USB support;...
Size, low noise, performance, VESA monitor mount provided.
Installing older OSes more cumbersome (requires OS support for legacy (non-3.0) USB, BIOS update requires DOS boot flash drive (WTH ... 2015/6 people), price is a little high, limited to M.2 B-Key drives (a taller version can support a standard laptop...

They need to update the promo with a M.2 disk.

You can't use the mSATA disk with this product. This product uses M.2 disks. I know it is free but...
Consumer review (newegg.com)
I have ordered 5 of these and two came with broken case screws. I suspect that the case screws were over torqued by the manufacture, rather than the screws being of low quality.
Separate head phone and mic ports now. there has been a change over from msata to m.2
short list of compatible memory. I found that this gen 6 unit was not compatible with the old memory that i had used in the previous gen 4 and 5 models even though it used the same memory specs (timings, speed, voltage). ended up using the corsair...
