A competitor for products like the Lenovo ThinkCentre and the Acer Veriton, the Dell Optiplex 755 aims for lower power more than greater performance.I...
Easy release side panel, vPro technology, good performance for an office PC
Not as small as the Lenovo ThinkCentres we've tested, or the Acer Veriton range; no e-SATA or FireWire
We like the trend towards a power saving focus, though there's little we can attribute to this machine that hasn't been used before. Regardless, it's a promising step forward. Performance-wise this machine does well, though the lack of e-SATA and...

Dell's OptiPlex 755 is the hybrid SUV of green PCs.
EPEAT Gold and Energy Star 4.0 certifications. Room for expansion. Energy efficient. Several form factors available. Easy-open case. Tool-less expansion. Internal power supply. Data redundancy/backup.
800-MHz RAM for $20 more would've been a better choice with the motherboard and the CPU's 800-MHz FSB. Many workers don't need the extra expansion or tower configuration. Only VGA out.

We tested Dell's OptiPlex 755 Mini-Tower ($1272 as of 9/12/07) as part of "Green PCs: A First Step," a story on energy-efficient computing. This business desktop is Energy Star 4.0-certified and meets the stringent EPEAT Gold environmental impact...
Expandable ; Energy efficient
Lacks some extras
This easy-to-expand unit makes a solid energy-efficient business PC.

If you think of green PCs as feeble machines scrunched into a microscopic form factor, you haven't seen the Dell OptiPlex 755 ($1,183 direct). Despite its sizable mid-tower frame, which offers plenty of room for expansion, the OptiPlex 755 has abundant...

This is not the most exciting PC on the market, but like others in this segment it proves that you can have both power and energy efficiency. Think of it as the Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV of green PCs.

Great performance for the office in an attractive and convenient package.
Energy efficient, Great office productivity performance, Screwless for access to internal parts and drive removal, Competitively priced
Average graphics performance, Drive latch was quite stiff

Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will be generally available right at the tail end of October, later this year.
Very small form factor ; External power supply ; Runs Windows 7 admirably
Not loud but not quiet either ; 3D ability still anemic
Even though it's around two years old and possessing very weak 3D performance, the OptiPlex 755 manages to run Windows 7 very well. The OP755 is indicative of many business desktops: low to moderate computational ability paired almost non-existant...

Makes a great paperweight
Computer arrived and would not boot, DOA straight out of box. Diagnosed the beeping error code and discovered a problem with the RAM. Removed and reseated the RAM and the computer booted up. I felt like I was victorious! 3 weeks go by and I don't use...

The computer worked when I got it
The computer crashed 2 months after I got it and Newegg will not repair or replace the item. Im pretty disappointed to spend $128.99 on a large paperweight
