AVOID

All these other reviews praising this computer are very old, if you are buying this in 2009 - LOOK ELSEWHERE This thing has been nothing but trouble since I got it, first it wouldn't work with the core due i got it so I had to order a 2nd processor...

Nice design ; Cheap price ; ASUS

Doesn't support any new cpu without bios update ; Problematic with memory ; Could be smaller for what's inside it ; By default comes with the power supply set on 230w ; MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE IT TO 110

first one was DOA

This mobo is small, so consider that if you have a large cpu cooler that goes sideways in the case. My memory has heat pipe with a fin array and the cpu fan butted against it. I have to run the fan backwards drawing air from the rear, but not a huge...

Makes for a nice little system. I put 4G of DD2/800MHZ and a Core 2 Duo/1333. It is fast

The first one wouldn't boot. It was a frustrating experience because I was using brand new everything and had no other system to verify the memory or cpu. I waited on hold for over an hour for Asus tech support (sucked). They determined it was bad, so...

Good Deal

Great basic home computer, too bad they don't just update the BIOS on these boards themselves though. Oh and the ASUS site sucks to navigate.

Easy install. Case is sturdy. BIOS is easy to get around and the updater worked great. Great barebone system for the average computer

As mentioned in a prior review the BIOS Must be updated for this to recognize certain processors. In this case it was an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200. Might happen on any processor with 1333 FSB? Not difficult, as the system can be booted and installed...

Inexpensive, easy build box

For the price, not bad. Not exactly feature rich, but for basic to intermediate systems builds, it's fine.

Mostly decent space to work with. Cables were done neatly. Total hardware build time was 17 minutes ; The parts were ; WD 250GB SATA ; 2 sticks of 2GB PC-5300 ; Lite-On DVD burner drive ; Intel E2200 CPU ; 80mm fan for case front ; It took about 2 more...

Retail fan/heatsink install is terrifying. To seat the pushpins requires a LOT of pressure on the mobo. The lack of SATA power connectors. The lack of a case fan...DOH! Printed docs are useless

Excellent Value

The PSU came switched to 230 instead of 115, so you might want to check it before you start pulling your hair out and assuming you've got a dead Mobo/Processor, lol. Built a very inexpensive and high quality rig for my parents with this as a Christmas...

1333 FSB and compatible with the new 45nm Intel Procs. The integrated Intel GMA 3100 video card does a fine job while using a minimal amount of system memory

As stated by someone else, a Bios update is necessary to prevent problems with newer processors. I found the easiest method was to upload the bios .rom onto a thumb drive and use the Asus EZflash utility inside of the bios itself. Worked like a charm,...
