Nearly Great

I was surprised at how quiet it runs, given how inexpensive it is. The steel case helps, although it is heavier. Compared to aluminum SFF Shuttles and Biostar I have this rig is much cheaper and much quieter. I checked out replacement PSUs and I did...

Inexpensive, quiet, cool, low profile, decent non-gaming video, four expansion slots, useful screwless bays. It will work as a budget HDTV box with an AGP card (onboard graphics choke on anything above standard definition)

Chipset could be better, low profile requires low profile cards with low profile brackets. With a slight redesign it could be helpfully more compact

ASUS PUNDIT-AE3 AMD Athlon 64/Sempron AMD Socket 754 SiS 760GX SiS Mirage 2 Barebone

Well it looks good

Third time was not the charm. After spending more than what the unit it worth on two returns, one DOA and one with no video, the third unit has a bad power supply. I hooked up a standard supply and it runs fine. Now I don't have to worry about...

Prepare to support it yourself

I've built 12 of these so far. 8 are in the field, 4 never made it to service because of the issue described above. I contacted ASUS tech support and got some lady that didn't know what she was doing. Narrowed it down to "It must be your motherboard or...

As of this writing, still one of the few desktops for K8's. A complete system can be made for very little money using this barebones. Works very well as an office pc, for the ones that work

Having an issue with several of these that forces the PC to continuously reboot with a hard drive (PATA or SATA, doesn't matter) and CD/DVD drive plugged in

Low profile cards

I don't understand why so many low profile cards do not include the low profile riser. What is the point then of low profile? When looking for a vide card and other PCI card look at the photos of accesories. A few do come with the shorter riser. Hope...

What video card can I use?

This is a solid little machine for general purpose computing. I didn't seem to have any of the problems with DVD burning, etc

XXXX suggested some video cards and none of them work. I ordered one and what was not mentioned was that not only does the card have to be low profile, but the bracket as well. The offset is different also, so even if you could "shorten" the bracket,...

sweet slim box

Its much larger than the last pundit, but far better. This thing's got SATA power on the PS, RAID capable, dual channel memory, etc. Its quiet, fast, and a great value.

Cheap, reliable, stylish

The case looks better in person. A socket 754 sempron runs very well in this. This particular setup (x3) involved a Sempron 2600+, 512MB PQI Turbo PC3200, and an 80GB Samsung SATA (150) running Windows XP professional on a domain. Time to the XP...
