If you have an spare screen or Bluetooth peripherals lying around, then the new Chromebit by Asus could transform them into a fully fledged computer.
The main question about the Chromebit is what would you use it for? If you want to assemble a cheap home PC for basic work and internet duties, plus you have a screen and peripherals knocking around, then it’s an excellent, cost-effective device....

Just add a display, keyboard and mouse for a surprisingly handy Chrome-on-stick experience.
Unlike Intel’s Compute Stick or even other Chrome OS machines, the Chromebit is actually an easier sell to a wider variety of people. It’s not necessarily a replacement for a streaming box or a full Windows PC. Instead, it’s a nice complement to the...

Let me get this out of the way right out of the gate: I love Chrome OS. I wanted to love it back when I reviewed the original Chromebook Pixel some years
Compact ; Need to take your desktop wherever you go? Chromebit is your huckleberry—it’s super small and portable, and will connect to any screen with an HDMI port. That’s pretty neat. ; Surprisingly good performance ; I’ve come to expect good...
Limited RAM ; If I had to choose one thing to dislike about the Chromebit, this would be it. I’d love for it to have at least 4GB. ; Not as good of a value for some users ; If you don’t already have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, the value drops since...

It's cheap, but can the Chromebit really serve as a fully functioning desktop PC?
... for everyone else, it’s too limited both in power and flexibility to replace a genuine PC.

Compact and well-built Silent operation Fast boot times
Weak at multitasking Limited connectivity and offline usability Near-constant Internet needed
The Asus Chromebit is currently the cheapest and simplest way to experience Chrome OS. Google's cloud-based desktop OS makes for an excellent low-cost solution for schools, kiosks or simply as a secondary PC at home, the caveat being that you'll need...

Very fast start up & browsing. Easy to use
Chrome store limited. Shame android apps not available. Then it would be fantastic & probably score 10/10

Easy to setup
Runs VERY hot!

This is no top end PC, but it's not meant to be. For the money it's quick, as it is undemanding in terms of resources as Chrome OS is much lighter than Windows. I would not use it as it as my main PC, but other than that it makes a great additional...
Chrome is restrictive when compared to the large variety of programs available for Windows. But if you go into this understanding from the outset what it does and does not do, it fully meets expectations.

Looks great, small, compact. You can install linux. Not bad for something a little faster than a Raspberry Pi I guess. (I have both, and use the Pi more).
Turned it on and it appears for a second then disappears on 2/5 of the TV's I have tried it on. Also, Google sell licences for this to be used as a display system, which cost you an extra yearly fee. As I haven't had chance to use it (as it goes off...
