A new powerhouse atop Apple's consumer all-in-one range
Stunning 5K display with wide color gamut ; Vega 48 outperforms even high-end eGPUs ; Remains quiet with heavy workload
Costly ample SSD storage ; 8GB RAM to start throughout models ; Mouse remains annoying to charge
The 27-inch Apple iMac’s 5K display remains a gorgeous standout feature, and if you need top-notch performance, the high-end CPU and GPU options are justifiable extras. We only wish every buyer got to enjoy a responsive iMac with an SSD.

It's still wearing 2012's garb, but what's inside counts most in Apple's latest iMac refresh
Gorgeous display ; Fast and responsive ; Improved graphics
Lacks T2 processor ; Can get very expensive ; No SSDs by default
More ‘return of the Mac’ than ‘Mac to the future’, this is nonetheless a solid refresh for Apple’s iconic desktop

Apple's been working miracles behind that well-worn look. It's crammed newer and newer (meaning hotter and hotter) components into the tiny space behind the iMac's screen without having the systems explode into flames -- I really didn't think it could...
The Apple iMac's 27-inch 5K display remains the most color-accurate monitor we've seen thus far in an all-in-one. Improved performance is especially impressive in the Core i9 model. Two USB-C/Thunderbolt connectors drive more external displays and...
The design, including thick screen bezels, feels dated. UHS-II SD cards still aren't fully supported. The tilt-only screen doesn't offer enough adjustment options.
It's something of a miracle that Apple can continue to cram newer (and hotter) components into the tiny space behind the iMac's screen, but we're already ready for a bigger redesign.

With a newly available Intel Core i9 CPU and updated AMD Radeon Pro graphics, the 2019 reboot of the 27-inch Apple iMac all-in-one is now as powerful as it is beautiful.

The inveterate desktop speeds up thanks to newer components, but it's time for the design to retire.

Professional users in fields such as video, design and audio will appreciate the extra processor and graphics performance offered by the 2019 edition of the standard 27-inch iMac.
6-core CPUs now standard ; Improved GPU performance ; Extensive BTO options
Expensive ; Limited expansion and repair options ; Only 8GB of RAM and Fusion drives as standard

Apple iMac 27-inch, which recently got a refresh, is a pricey but excellent machine that is bound to appeal to anyone looking for a reliable and top-of-the-line computer for use at home.
Great screen ; Minimalistic ; macOS
Keyboard and mouse ; 8GB RAM

Apple's long-awaited refresh of the iMac lineup finally happened, and it brought about incremental, but nonetheless worthwhile, enhancements to the lineup. Along with new 6-core and 8-core Intel options for faster CPU performance, new Radeon Pro Vega...

Apple's popular 27-inch iMac (starting at $1,799, reviewed at $3,449) has always been a top pick for a wide range of power users, from enterprise executives to online influencers. This year, Apple quietly refreshed both the 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac...
Gorgeous 5K display Blistering speed Improved graphics performance Sleek (albeit, aging) design
Thick bezels No touch-screen option No height adjustment Ports are rear-mounted
The new iMac is an excellent all-in-one for creative professionals, thanks to its gorgeous 5K display, breakneck speeds and powerful speakers.

Apple has radically overhauled its iMac lineup for 2017, giving its 27 inch Retina 5K models dedicated graphics driven by AMD Radeon Pro 570, 575, and 580 GPUs; a brighter display with enhanced P3 wide color; more powerful Intel Kaby Lake CPUs;...
