CoffeeGeek - La Pavoni Napolitana Espresso Machine - Tgoob Erbutt's Review

I was looking for a combi machine with solid parts. And yes - like other reviewers, this is the same thing as the LeLit PL042E that's available in Australia. I think the features change slightly from year to year (steam wand, drain hole shape,...

Looks Nice, Nice form factor. It's nice and narrow - doesn't take up too much counter space, doesn't stick out far from the wall ; The power cord is also long (over 3 feet) ; Brass boiler, brew group, portafilter, etc - everything stays nice and hot ;...

Grinder is LOUD ; Built in tamper (push upward on machine to tamp) is useless - have to open machine body to remove/unscrew it ; The ready light is lit when it's not ready, and unlit when it's ready - very counterintuitive ; Cup warmer could be hotter...

A compact, elegant machine that makes espresso better than any commercial espresso in the USA.

My wife and I are espresso aficionados. We have spent a lot of time in Italy and have always wanted to reach that level at home. Coincidently, given the name of this machine, it is in Naples that we have found the best coffee on the planet.

QUALITY of coffee! What else is important? Additionally, the machine is made with industrial quality. The grinder works very well. The switch for the grinder is built in so that pushing the portafilter into the slot starts the grinding. The components...

The steamer does not make the dense foam that a commercial machine is able to produce. The coffee grinder does not have enough whole bean capacity. The grinder is not centered over the portafilter basket. There is no easy way to remove the beans from...

Great value in an all in one package that makes great espressos and lattes.

I am not sure the other comments about the temperature not being high enough are accurate. I get a water temperature of about 160 if I measure water poured into a shot glass from the grouphead. But, water cools fast. When I use the grouphead...

Sturdy stainless construction ; Heavy grouphead/portafilter ; Fast warmup ; Easy to get microfoam ; Easy to pull a shot with nice crema ; Excellent adjustable grinder ; Low cost

My boiler light sometimes comes on before the shot completes ; I wish the boiler generated more steam and hot water before reheating ; Grinder cleanup is harder in combi machine

USED to be great, steer clear of this model now!

I purchased my first La Pavoni Napolitana almost 3 years ago from a seller on ebay, after a little trial and error with grind settings and tamp pressure, I was finally able to pull a pretty decent shot of espresso with thick, rich, crema. I could not...

New Design with easier to use water tank, Nicer portafilter ; NOTE: New design has piece of foam to help hold water tank, and black rubber trim along front edge of machine on top, grates for grinder and waste water also have round holes instead of...

Grinder settings very inconsistent ; Cheaper boiler and pump ; Grouphead temp will not go past 160 without activating steam button

Makes okay cafe au lait, but for espresso drinks it just doesn't cut it.

We were disappointed with the machine, The pump simply does not have sufficient pressure to extract the rich, oily crema which is the hallmark of good espresso, nor was it able to steam milk properly (i.e. the milk is heated, but there's no dense...

The coffee it produces tastes good. Machine attractive. Grinder works well

Insufficient pump pressure

Buy this machine if you're starting out in the Espresso world - GREAT ESPRESSO WITH A LITTLE PRACTICE!

We wanted an espresso machine immediately after returning from our honeymoon in Fiji, Sydney and Auckland. When we were in Sydney, we kept coming across cafes where we would taste "great" espresso. I'm not too sure how they would compare to espresso...

Great looking machine ; Large drip trays ; Good-sized water tank ; Built-in grinder (didn't have to drop an additional $200-$400 on a grinder!) ; Great espresso

Even with the large water tank, it needs to refilled pretty quickly, but maybe it's our espresso-drinking habits ; No 3-way solenoid; I'd love if this machine had one, specifically for backflushing ; Even though the stainless steel finish is...

A great shot can be had with a little practice and patience.

I prefer a short shot which, if made correctly, is thicker and stronger than a regular shot because it uses the same amount of coffee but less water. Beacuse of this, I was looking for a semi-automatic, pressure machine so I can stop the unit when I...

Semi-automatic. Huge water tank. Huge drip trays. Looks great just sitting on the counter. Built-in grinder. Built in Tamper. Clean up a breeze

No cup warmer. Coffee port positioned too far ahead of the activation switch. Requires practice to make a great shot

You get a nice looking, easy to use macine and most importantly you get a good coffee, but it won't break the bank!

For someone looking to get into the espresso machine market and not wanting to break the bank, this is a very safe way to go. The fact that you are getting the grinder and machine in one is a real treat that will save you money. It looks good sitting...

looks good ; easy to use ; easy to clean ; great espresso shots ; good steaming atachment ; affordable

There are only a few. One being that there are a few plastic peices which would have been nicer in a steel finish. These are the grinder and portafilter tray as well as the dials and buttons. However these trays are easily removed for cleaning which is...
