I just love the aesthetics of Ascaso machines and must confess that I bought the small red Arc Fun mostly for its looks.(though I read all the reviews here first)
Very beautiful looking, small and easy to use machine. Big water reservoir, very functional froth aider, available in many a nice colour (mine is red)
Drip tray is plastic, though rather tough ; You have to change the shower screen to change between ESE pod and ground coffee use ; Cup Warmer doesn't get very hot in the rear area (where all the cups are since it slopes downwards)

This machine has been in a public area for 6 months now, probably making 20-40 cups a day, with amateur users, and no problems what so ever.
Brass boiler ; Commercial-size plated brass portafilter ; High steam volume ; Reliable pressure and heat ; Single, double, and pod portafilters provided, as well as baffled holders for more reliable pours
Plastic drip tray, fairly pedestrian aesthetics, unlabeled buttons

Looks great. Steam wand heats up quickly. First shot of the day usually is quite nice. After pulling the first shot, the machine starts to spew steam everywhere. DO NOT try to pull a shot after running the steam wand, it will burn every shot! you must...

After pulling the first shot, the machine starts to spew steam everywhere. DO NOT try to pull a shot after running the steam wand, it will burn every shot! you must wait an hour for it to cool down

I like the fact that it can be updated to take pods. Easy to use, highly reccomend. Ascaso Arc espresso machine is not only well designed externally but is likewise packed with features rich elements on the inside. With it's electronic thermo fuse and...
I would like to find this machine for the price you list ~ NOT!!! Much more expensive. Easy to work, will take more time to perfect the perfect espresso, but hey~ I'm used to the Gaggia Classic. Which only lasted two years

I bought this about two years ago for something like CAD450. It suddenly stopped heating last week. I took it back to Morala Trading in Ottawa and they swiftly (next day) repaired it at a cost of CAD135. He said the boiler top, o-ring and (I think he...
Worked for a while but only got up to heat if left on all the time (during the day)

I recently purchased this machine in part because of the many positive reviews, which I fundamentally agree with. I won't reiterate all the benefits or drawbacks previously noted, other than to say that the prev ious reviews are very solid. All in all,...
Price ; Aesthetics - simple yet elegant styling, doesn't try to look like a commercial machine ; Even temperatures ; Big reservoir
Small dispersion screen ; No 3 way solenoid, requiring pressure to be slowly released when removing portafilter ; Drip tray rattles a bit, drip tray enclosure rests on machine - doesn't "lock in

UPDATED REVIEW!!! Nov 24, 2007
Large reservoir ; quick heat up ; ease of use ; abundant steam ; easy to clean ; large removable drip tray ; very nice portafilter ; great price
tough to make a HOT (140 degree) Americano ; plastic tamper ; lack of pressure or temp guage (but that's why it was so affordable) ; pump is a bit noisy ; leaky steam wand ; 2x repaired in less than 1 yr (not covered under warranty)

Bought on coffee geek recommendation. Western supplier for canada is Cappuccino King, who matched price from Montreal of $450 canadian. A competent machine with good looks-very understated. Only thing I would like different would be frother and 3-way...
Good looking machine at a good price point ; large drip tray ; visible water reservoir
frother attachment ; no 3-way valve ; cups sit on colder end of top

I'd been looking to upgrade from my Krupps for a while but buying a quality machine on a budget is a hard thing to do... Finally I had saved up enough to afford the Sylvia but, before purchasing, I realized that even with the Sylvia I wouldn't be...
Brass Boiler ; Great steam ; Pump is quite powerfull ; Price ; Good Looks (I have the Stainless model, with the Innova brushed steel Grinder as well) ; Big water reservoir with access from the side
Somwhat tinny, by that I mean that where the top meets the sides it's not welded but just fit together by tabs ; After heavy usage it almost gets too hot ; The single shot filter seems to be too small (I don't use it much but have trouble with it)
