Toshiba Camileo S30

Can Toshiba give pocket Internet camcorders something to think about?

More features than pocket Internet camcorders, 3in touchscreen, Full HD resolution

Low light performance not as good as pocket Internet models, Digital zoom only

Toshiba Camileo S30

The Toshiba Camileo S30 is a full HD camcorder with a diminutive form. At 59mm x 106mm x 19mm (W/H/D), the S30 is about the size of a large box of matches. It breaks away from the traditional camcorder shape, as it more resembles a phone camera than a...

The S30 isn’t the most feature packed camcorder you are going to find, but it is one of the smallest full HD camcorders on the market. We loved the ease of use and portability of this device. The build quality is good and for normal un-zoomed recording...

Toshiba Camileo S30 camcorder

The Toshiba Camileo S30 is a full HD camcorder. We take it for a spin to see if it's picture perfect.

At the end of the day, the Toshiba Camileo S30 is a good device and at its recommended retail price of R1,499 it borders on excellent.

Review: Toshiba Camileo S30

Toshiba's Camileo is poised to fill in the gap left by the now-defunct Flip, but its quality doesn't measure up.

Low price and a lot of included swag. Cool functions, including slow-motion, time-lapse and motion-detect are unheard of in a budget camera. Several hardware perks, such as HDMI-out, a flip-out display, removable battery, zoom controls, LED light and a...

Touchscreen controls are wonky. Super sensitivity to light made for unwelcome lens flares and overexposed shots. HD video often appeared somewhat smudgy and less-than-crisp. Oversensitivity to movement made all but the stillest still pictures unusable

Toshiba Camileo S30

The Toshiba Camileo S30 pocket camcorder looks and feels like a real video camera, with a big screen and plenty of features, but its performance is only average.

Shoots 8-megapixel still images. Build-in flash. Large, articulating LCD. Storage is expandable.

Video quality not up to par with competitors. Not left-hand friendly. Interface is difficult to use.

Buried in the chaos are plenty of options and settings. A motion-sensing option will start recording video whenever it senses motion. There's a slow-motion mode for catching fast action, a time-lapse mode, a number of art filters for photos and video,...

Toshiba Camileo S30

LED light. HDMI output. Slim, very lightweight. Mini tripod included in the box.

Image stabilisation is turned off by default. Video and still image quality only just OK. Easy to smudge or obscure lens with finger.

Toshiba's S30 will satisfy those who are happy to sacrifice video quality for a slim camcorder.

Toshiba Camileo S30 Review

Toshiba may not be known for its prowess in the pocket camcorder market, but that doesn't mean it should be immediately counted out. Its latest pocket camcorder offering, the Camileo S30 , hops on the touch-control bandwagon and tries to compete with...
