Sony Bloggie MHS-PM1 camcorder

For those spur of the moment video clips, most of us are now well used to simply hoisting and pointing our camera phones at the activities taking place. That point hasn't been lost on electronics manufacturers who have of late been taking an "if you...

Swivelling lens compartment helps this one stand out from the crowd, inexpensive option for those wanting a portable yet solidly built HD recording device

Screen is small and poky, no HDMI connectivity, built-in microphone picks up operational noise and user adjustments, impossible to smoothly and seamlessly adjust angle of view of top-mounted lens compartment once filming has commenced

Users are more likely to get a naturalistic performance from their subjects (particularly the smaller members of the family) if approaching them with a camcorder with a diminutive form factor such as this - arguably less intimidating than a "proper"...

Sony MHS-PM1 review

Sony's lifejacket-orange pocket camcorder certainly catches the eye. But will its video performance grab your attention?

A snappy dresser, but sadly the footage the PM1 captures isn’t nearly as sharp as its livery

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 review

The Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 looks like a toy, but don't let its basic looks and controls fool you: the Webbie has the most well-rounded feature set we've seen.

The versatile Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 camcorder is a good looker and provides plenty of control over your footage. It stands head and shoulders above the rest of the competition here.

Sony MHS–PM1

The Sony MHS–PM1 is one of first and most exciting entry is the mini type of a camcorder, for taking home videos and pictures for future reference and memories. This camcorder captures videos at reasonable resolution; hence, quality videos and pictures...

Sony MHS-PM1 HD camera review

Sony's MHS-PM1 HD camera offers 1080p (1440 x 1080) HD video recording at 30 frames per second in MP4 format...

Probably the best of its type

Poor still images and does little more than a cameraphone

Overall this device is about video and if you are after this type of device, then this is definitely one to consider.

Sony MHS-PM1

Sony comes a little late to the pocket-sized camcorder party. It's following in the tracks of the Flip family, Kodak's Zi8 and Creative's Vado. The PM1 has a distinctive orange livery and a rotating lens that'll ensure it gets noticed. HD movies are...

The PM1 is a great looking gadget with plenty of fun features, plus a well-designed interface, which makes it easy to use. The video performance would benefit from tweaking though, and it’d be nice to see a few more connections/terminals added to its...

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 camcorder

The flashy Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 camcorder comes with a vastly over the top price tag given that it's onsale in the US for $170, but it also offers far more features than most flash camcorders we've seen.

The versatile Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 camcorder is a good looker and provides plenty of control over your footage. It stands head and shoulders above the rest of the competition here, but we're puzzled as to why Sony has saddled it with such a huge...

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 pocket camcorder

The first pocket camcorder with 1080p video recording

Lots of advanced features, 1080p recording, good image quality for asking price

Cheap plastic finish, no integrated USB connector, video performance trumped by Flip Mino HD

For a pocket camcorder, the Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 is loaded with features and produces decent video quality. That said, there are several products on the market that offer superior results.

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 review: Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1

Attractive design; captures video at 720p and 1080p "HD" resolution; memory-card expansion slot; swiveling lens; component video cables; rechargeable lithium ion battery.

Price doesn't include an optional memory card (onboard memory is limited to 12MB for capturing video); rechargeable battery doesn't recharge via USB connector; no integrated USB connector; no protective carrying case included.

The MHS-PM1 Webbie HD represents a step forward for Sony in the minicamcorder arena--but some quirks and only OK video quality prevent it from being compelling enough to best the competition.
