Sony HDR-HC7 review

A versatile all-rounder that's pleasantly easy to use

Great connectivity ; Impressive HD quality

Lacks 25P

Excels in most areas, but the lack of 25P support is a real let-down when it comes to high-def functionality

SimplyDV Review: Sony HDR-HC7 HDV Camcorder

Lovely handling and images, choice of HDV/DV record & playback, mic input and headphone output, comprehensive digital and analogue connectivity, ease of use

Despite the grumbles, above, the HC7 produces cracking good pictures and sound, proving that recording high definition to tape isn't quite finsihed yet.

Great image quality, extensive manual controls, fantastic still image functionality

Limited zoom, expensive

The HDR-HC7E is pricey, but its impressive image quality makes it an attractive choice for those who can afford it.

Sony Handycam HDR-HC7 review: Sony Handycam HDR-HC7

Sony Handycam HDR-HC7

Excellent video and performance; satisfying photo quality; a decent set of manual controls for the target audience; bundled FireWire cable.

Annoying touch screen interface.

A great HD camcorder for deep-pocketed leisure shooters, as long as you like the Sony Handycam HDR-HC7's touch screen interface.

Sony Handycam HDR-HC7

More pixels, a more potent battery, and headphone and mic jacks are incremental improvements to last year's model, but the HDR-HC7 now looks like a AU$2,000-plus camcorder.

HD highlights the world in all its glorious imperfection. Now looks and feels like a AU$2,000-plus item.

Manual controls fiddly and require stepping through the menu system. MiniDV/HDV isn't for everyone.

Incremental the changes may be, but the HDR-HC7 is a great quality high-def camcorder, which should be perfect enthusiasts who need the recording ease of HDV.

At the time of its release, the Sony HDR-HC7 ($1399) is a likely runner up for Camcorder of the Year. It has superb video quality in bright light, stellar handling, and a broad gamut of automatic and manual controls. Then along came the Canon HV20 with...

Sony HDR-HC7 Camcorder Review

Sony's HDR-HC7 ($1399 MSRP) was to be one of the best, if not

Sony HDR-HC7 First Impressions Review

The Sony HDR-HC7 now leads Sony's new, relatively affordable HD camcorder line. This HDV camcorder records to tape, like the HDR-HC3, and features an important upgrade in imager size that could make it Sony's best consumer HD camcorder of 2007, based...
