Sony Handycam DCR-SR300

Sony Handycam DCR-SR300

The Sony DCR-SR300 digital camcorder has a nice 10x optical zoom lens; effective hybrid image stabilization; a hot shoe for optional accessories.

Compression artifacts mar otherwise nice video; no viewfinder; awkward touch screen interface; somewhat pricey given its image quality; no minijack mic input.

The Sony DCR-SR300 digital camcorder should appeal to casual, snapshooter-type videographers, but it's somewhat pricey, since its video quality still can't match better MiniDV camcorders.

Sony DCR-SR300 Camcorder Review

Sony's DCR-SR100 was one of the best camcorders of 2006, and it was an auspicious sign of things to come at Sony. Until that camcorder, JVC's Everio line monopolized the consumer HDD space. The SR100 changed all that, combining image quality and...

The Sony DCR-SR300 is a great standard definition camcorder to be sure, and at the beginning of 2006, when its predecessor was released, it would have made us swoon. The 1/2.9" ClearVID CMOS sensor produces an image very similar in quality to the SR100...

Sony DCR-SR300 First Impressions Review

The Sony DCR-SR300 is the top hard disk drive (HDD) standard definition camcorder from Sony this year and close kin to its step-down sibling, the DCR-SR200. These camcorders replace one of our favorites from 2006, the DCR-SR100. The SR300 is equipped...

In the end, the DCR-SR300 takes the top rank of standard definition HDD camcorders for Sony this year. It includes a better imager than any of them whose video performance might be worth the price increase over the DCR-SR200. The only drawback the...

Sony DCR-SR300

The DCR-SR300 is Sony's top-of-the-line standard definition hard disk drive (HDD) camcorder this year. Its predecessor, the DCR-SR100, was a big favorite with its crisp video and supreme ease of use. This year, Sony tried to up the ante with an...

Sony DCR-SR300

The DCR-SR300 comes equipped with the best imaging feature set that Sony offers this year: a 1/2.9 ClearVID CMOS sensor, which has a gross pixel count of 3,200,000 (effective pixel count 2,280,000 in 16:9; and 1,710,000 pixels in 4:3). The ClearVID...

Sony DCR-SR300E

Very easy to use. Takes very clear quality video. The still shots are excellent and can be stored on a pro duo card or the large hard drive itself. It fits nicely in the palm with all buttons/controls within easy reach. The touch screen is simple to...

The video is a little grainy in low light conditions which doesnt really matter as I expected it to be. To protect the lense I purchased a 37mm filter which when fitted disables the flash on still shots, not sure why this is? I would have liked a...

Excellent HDD Camcorder

I purchased this camcorder to replace our Sony TRV308 (analog HI8 camcorder). We use our camcorder mainly for shooting home movies of the kids. We wanted an HDD camera for easy of editting and for convenience of storage and backup of the movie files....

This camcorder lacks the eye-stalk view finder that was present on our TRV308, and many earlier Sony camcorders. The eye-stalk is nice for shooting in bright daylight, for conserving battery power, and most especially, for using the camcorder as a...

Soney handycam DCR SR 300 (What r u looking for?)

HI This is one of the more advanced handy cams made by Sony. Even thought the price is quite high (I paid around 30,000 NT for this, which is the equivalent of 1000 USD) I still think it's worth it. You can practically do pro video taping with this...
