Sony DCR-HC52

Sony's budget Mini DV camcorder for casual users

Attractive price point, 40x optical zoom, solid user interface

Performed poorly in low light, flash memory and DVD models can be bought just as cheaply

The Sony DCR-HC52 is a perfectly capable little camcorder, but its recording format is beginning to show its age. Frankly, your money would be better spent on something younger and hipper. (Mini DV, your time is nearly up.)

USB Cable NOT Included

If you don't have firewire, buy a different camera.

Small and good quality. Nice features

If you want to do digital editing, you need to have firewire ports on your computer. The Dell website claims that this camera comes with a USB cable. IT DOES NOT. I had to spend over $30 putting a firewire port on my PC to make it work

So far, so good!

Doesn't come with a camera bag or backup battery. Make sure that you are prepared to buy one once you get it. Also, I was so excited when I received the camera but I wasn't able to use it until I had the tapes. Not a flaw with the camera, but something...

Very easy to use. I just wanted an easy camera that took good shots and where I didn't have to read the instruction manual if I didn't want to. So far, I've just done basic shooting with it but, I know that there's a lot more features. Also, the camera...

I love that it is small and easy to carry. I have only had it for about a week and the picture is great

I wish that the sound was a little louder. and that the battery would last a little longer

Entry Level Handycam

This is a great camera to start out with, the simplicity of Mini DV tapes makes this a good value choice. DVD camcorders in this price range suffer from bad battery life, and disk errors that can render your disks useless. The Mini DV tapes are tried...

Camcorder HC52

This is a very comfortable Sony camcorder. It has great zoom, with it you can shoot faraway objects. It has a Touch-screen LCD, with it you can control your camcorder very handily. There is a "EASY" function - with it you can control your camcorder if...

Very cheap, easy to use, faraway zoom, touch - screen

It takes long time to transfer your videos to your computer
