With a 30GB hard disk and the option to record video to SD cards, does this 'hybrid' cut the mustard?

Panasonic SDR-H250 review

A hybrid approach to storage

Versatile storage options ; Easy to use ; Good overall quality

Not HD

A generous set of user-friendly features together with its combined ability to shoot either to SDHC cards or HDD in impressive widescreen makes this camcorder the obvious choice for upgraders who aren't quite ready to make the leap to HD quite yet

SimplyDV Review: Panasonic SDR-H250 HDD/SDHC Camcorder

Unless you've been living on the moon for the last couple of years you'll know that tape and even DVD is giving way to camcorders that record to hard disc and solid-state media. Panasonic's SDR-H280 offers both.

Ok, let's be realistic. At a point in the evolution of home video when everything is leaning towards high definition very quickly (as witnessed by Panasonic's own offerings), the SDR-H280 isn't a high-def camcorder. It's a standard definition model...

Panasonic SDR-H250

Panasonic's "hybrid" camcorder offers a choice of video recording to either internal Hard Disc Drive or high-capacity SD card media and, on first impressions at least, shares an outward appearance with several models in the JVC Everio G range of HDD...

SimplyDV Review: Panasonic SDR-H250 Hybrid HDD/SD 3CCD camcorder

Overall design and handling very good. Menu system not over-featured, selection via mini-joystick is quick and easy. 3CCD picture and sound quality excellent for the price. MegaOIS is excellent. DVD Copy feature invaluable for the first-time user who...

If you're a camcorder newbie looking for a good first-time domestic model, and you like the idea of shooting high-quality tapeless video, then you'll consider this great value for money and a good choice.

Panasonic SDR-H250

The H250 has a lot to offer today — notably a great lens, flexible storage and usable manual features — but it'll soon look as quaint and outmoded as VHS.

Hard drive/memory card combination ; Superb Leica lens ; Easy creative features

Average video in standard def ; No viewfinder ; Ugly photos

The Panasonic SDR-H250 is slated to arrive in stores in April.

A fantastic camera, that still competes well with current cameras on sale. I use it for still shots too.

Great battery life. Easily imports into iMovie on my Mac

Only 10x zoom
