Mini DV camcorders are going the way of the dodo, this makes an great farewell
Great usability ; Competitive price
Quite bulky ; Limited features
The GS80 isn’t cutting-edge technology, nor is it anywhere near being an example of the finest of current technology. It is, however, inexpensive, effective and easy to use. Budding moviemakers should steer well clear, but family users on a budget will...

We were hoping for a big finale to the kit of 2007, but we didn't expect one quite so, well, large. In the age of miniaturisation, there's just no getting around the fact that the Panasonic NV-GS80 is rotund.
Funky, unique deisgn, Good price, Good timbre-matching, Distinctive looks, Overclocking headroom, Half the price of the cheapest Ultra, Vibrant image quality, Strong build, Comfortable to use, Generous array of features, Exceptional hi-def performance,...
Poor connectivity, Picture is underwhelming, Lack of lower mid-range and bass punch limits its movie-performance, No triple SLI, Stopgap measure until the 9 series?, Controls can feel awkward, Image noise, Relatively expensive, Some noise in larger...

Decent video quality; native 16:9 wide-screen video
Useless night mode; still photo function is pointless
The Panasonic PV-GS80 is a serviceable budget camcorder, but better choices are out there.

The entry-level unit in Panasonic's latest range of MiniDV camcorders, the PV-GS80 is a no-frills device that delivers quality video at an affordable price. If you're looking for a feature-rich bargain, though, you'll need to either invest a little...
Good video performance in well-lit situations, inexpensive, 32x optical zoom and excellent optical image stabilization system
Useless stills function, awful low-light performance, limited feature set
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Excellent image quality and stability, particulary zoomed in. Very high quality for the price.
Slightly awkward accessing controls without jogging the image. Supplied battery life is mediocre. Can purchase longer life battery readily. Also a firewire cable is required to transmit to PC (for editing/storage), again these can be purchased...

1).Ease of use. 2).Compact size.

Consumer review (newegg.com)
An easy to use camcorder. Mini DV's are great. Good quality transfer to computer and then good quality dvds and mini dv tapes. Price is reasonable and I think its ok for this product. Battery life is nice and long enough for recording but you can get a...
It takes still pictures to the mini dv tapes but quality is poor and it takes 7 secs of the tape. So far no other cons
Consumer review (epinions.com)
I recently used this camcorder during a video shoot in Kansas since it was cheaper than taking along one of my expensive pro-sumer video camcorders. It performed like a charm. Of course there are many camcorders on the market to choose from, but for ...
Digital ; Low light ; Stable Video Shooting ; Price ; Fire-wire ; Mini-DV ; Clean Video
