Is this prosumer 4K camcorder going to start a 4K revolution?
Compact and light design ; Excellent price ; 60fps 4K shooting
Poor light performance ; Limited dynamic range ; Plasticky build quality ; Small sensor
There are some promising elements in the X1000, but images really suffer in low light situations. It really needs a larger sensor to make the most of its other qualities.

A new prosumer run-and-gun-style camcorder has tons of entry-level pro features -- it's just missing the three sensors.

The options for highly versatile and remarkably powerful 4K video shooting on a relatively moderate to downright modest budget keep growing these days and numerous pro or semi-pro camcorders and cinema cameras for the middle-ground are coming out all...
Excellent DCI 4K and 4K UHD shooting capacity ; Superb Leica Zoom lens ; 4K UHD at 60fps ; Light and easy to handle
Weak at low light performance ; Poor dynamic range ; Flimsy build in some ways ; Video output lacks cinematic quality
As long as you understand the limitations for low light shooting and dynamic range that the HC-X1000 suffers from we still highly recommend this camcorder for daylight shooting of documentaries and public events. Its zoom lens and very robust 4K video...

In a somewhat stealthy announcement at IFA 2014, Panasonic debuted its first prosumer -- a little more "pro" than "sumer" -- 4K camcorder. The HC-X1000, which will go by X1000E in Europe, seems to offer the same recording capabilities as the GH4,...
I suspect that Panasonic dumped it in the "prosumer" bin because it uses a single sensor instead of three -- a nontrivial difference, of course. But feature-wise, it looks like it has quite a lot of pro capabilities, including two XLR inputs; USB 3.0...

I am a sports and wedding videographer and have to say this camera is junk for any shots taken indoors unless you have a pro lighting setup. After 5 months of using this camcorder on weddings (we now use it as a stationery camera as backup, so a $3k...

I bought the HC-X1000 to replace a SONY HVR-Z5 (HDV format). Small sensors is fine for me because I don't need the short deep of field that comes with larger CMOS.

The image quality is poor. now matter what I do the images in BOTH 1080p and 4K are soft AND noisy. The files are upgradeable in Premiere or you get even more noise. It might have a Leica lens but the sensor can't use it! Also the manuals(or lack there...

I really wanted to love this camera. And to a great extent I do. I will even go so far as to say I will miss it, but I have to let it go. Why? One reason and one reason only - the picture quality. It is way short of awful, but at times I found it...

Great little camera but it has its limitations. First thing, this camera is definitely not a low light camera. Once in low light situations it will show its flaws, in Noise, Noise, Noise. If the scene is lit properly and the camera manually set, then...
