GoPro's flagship extreme sports camcorder is highly impressive.
Huge range of movie quality settings ; Useful 30fps max still image burst rate ; Remote and app control ; Top-notch video and photo quality ; Good range of accessories
Supplied software a little limited ; Built-in microphone is overly directional
Supplied is a range of mounts, fasteners and adhesive pads. Our's came with the ‘Adventure Kit’ intended for use on dry land. Go for the Surf Edition if you're in and around water a lot.

Versatile shooting modes for pros ; More detail in brightly-lit areas ; Wi-Fi built in ; Lighter and smaller ; Reduced fogging in the housing
Detail lost in dark areas ; Colour balance can be off ; Menu is still time consuming to navigate
An amazing and robust camera that can go all the places you can, and some places you can't. Better, faster, and now with higher-end video modes more suited to the pro market, it's a serious little piece of kit.

Battery life too short per charge, user interface none too friendly, 4K frame rate too low for use, needs extra accessories to make the most out of it, Wi-Fi is an added battery killer
There's no doubt that the GoPro HD Hero3 Black edition improves upon its predecessor, often by big margins.
