Flip UltraHD series (2010 review

You may have heard that Cisco will no longer be producing the Flip camcorder products. However, as long as they're still available on the market, you may want to consider buying one anyway. If so, here are some issues you should consider , and if not,...

Powered by AA batteries; simple recording controls; embedded FlipShare software remains excellent; adds Twitter support.

Mediocre video quality; no memory expansion; no HDMI cable included; no macro focus; no mic, headphone jacks; resolution fixed to 720p at 30fps; lacks new FlipPort for add-on accessories.

The Flip UltraHD 1 Hour is an OK entry-level mini camcorder if you just need something simple to shoot and share video, but there are better options.

Flip UltraHD series (2010) review

Cisco's Flip Video is facing more competition than ever from camera and camcorder manufacturers as well as from multifunction devices like the iPod Touch and a bevy of smartphones. With that in mind, you might expect the latest version of its UltraHD...

Excellent video quality for its class; electronic image stabilization; takes included rechargeable battery or three AAA-size batteries; simple recording controls; embedded FlipShare software remains excellent, adds Twitter support; accessory port...

No memory expansion; no HDMI cable included; no macro focus; no mic, headphone jacks; resolution fixed to 720p at 60fps.

The Flip UltraHD 2 Hour is a solid update to an excellent mini camcorder, while staying as simple to use as the original.

Consumer review (cnet.com)

For filming outdoor or small rooms BLASTED with light.

The Flip Ultra HD is a good camera for well lit areas (extremely well lit). The user friendliness is top shelf and much appreciated. I can get past the fact that this unit does not offer a mic jack, headphone jack, hot shoe, etc..that's fine. What I...

unbelievably easy to use, excellent transfer capability. Fast sharing, importing. Never miss a moment type of camera.

no lens cover, no ext. mic jack, AWFUL, AWFUL indoor recording..simply disgusting..I couldn't believe it, I still can't. The indoor (low light) issue is really my only complaint..anything else is understandable considering the low price of a unit
