Canon Elura review

Canon Elura

Very compact; vibrant color; big zoom range.

Average in low light; poor button layout; badly placed jog dial.

A winner when it comes to size, price, and quality, the Canon Elura 90 is an excellent choice if you're looking for a compact MiniDV camera and don't mind occasionally fumbling with awkward controls.

Canon Elura 90

While not the best in its class, this camcorder is a good value and offers solid video quality.

Good exposure for both video and stills. Built-in flash. 20X optical zoom. Excellent autofocus.

Video resolution could be a bit higher. Poor button placement.

Canon Elura 60

A worthy device for the price, the Canon Elura 60 is extremely easy to operate, with decent video quality.

Easy to operate. 14X optical zoom. 2.5-inch LCD. Adjustable EVF. Decent video quality. Has an SD slot for still captures. Offers manual adjustments.

Mediocre still-image capture. Lack of headlight, hot shoe, or flash makes low-light shooting problematic.

Canon Elura 50, Optura 20

Canon hit the daily double with its new video cameras.

The Optura proved very competent in low-light shooting, a frequent Achilles' heel in Canon's consumer line. Images were slightly noisy, but overall quality rated near the top. In direct sunlight, the Optura captured good colors and detail, with minimal...

Canon Elura 90 Mini DV Camcorder

Canon has put the buttons and controls on this camcorder in easy to reach areas. One thing we've noticed throughout other model lines this year is the differing location of the Set dial and Menu button. On the Elura 90 these controls rest at the front...
