Sony NSZ-GT1 (Google TV) review: Sony NSZ-GT1 (Google TV)

Sony NSZ-GT1 (Google TV)

Blu-ray player with built-in Google TV; revolutionary Google TV software enables potential access to virtually all online media, with a powerful interface; user interface overlays TV content from cable/satellite box; can control TV, AV receiver, and...

Frustrating controller handles neither Google TV or Blu-ray well; major content providers like Hulu, CBS, and ABC are currently blocking Google TV; user interface geared toward power users; Google's "universal" search doesn't search Netflix; antiquated...

The Sony NSZ-GT1 combines Google TV and Blu-ray in a single box, but Sony's frustrating controller, the high price, and Google TV's content issues make it a tough sell.

Sony Internet TV Blu-ray Disc Player (NSZ-GT1)

Excellent value. Solid Blu-ray video quality for a convergence product. Google TV interface peruses Web content, TV listings, and apps with Google search. Streams audio, video, photos from PCs wirelessly.

Limited connectivity (only HDMI and Optical outputs). Only DISH Network DVR content shows up in searches. Cannot assign multiple user accounts to protect browsing, content-viewing history.

The Sony Internet TV Blu-ray Disc Player may lack the Logitech Revue's Harmony remote functionality, but its Blu-ray drive makes it a better value if you want to get into the Google TV game.

Sony NSZ-GT1 Google TV Blu-ray Disc Player Review

The Sony NSZ-GT1 sounds more like a Japanese sports car than an Internet TV Blu-ray Player. I mean, are we reviewing the hardware? Yes. Are we reviewing GoogleTV? Yes. Are we reviewing Sony? Yes.

Sony NSZ-GT1 Internet TV Blu-ray Disc Player with Google TV Review

Brings Google's famous Internet access to your existing HDTV, Apps and internet-powered features go beyond what any other Blu-ray player can do, but...

Hang on for repeated frustration when exploring unsupported/blocked video websites, Remote control not nearly as intuitive as Sony seems to think it is

Great All in one device

1. Android Honeycomb and Market access 2. Good Blu-ray player, but PS3 is better 3. You can root it and side load apps 4. Chrome browser is great 5. Love the keyboard (unlike most others)

1. Some websites are blocked for Google TV 2. Power hungry, when on. 3. Developer interest is not as much as I expected.

For the low price this is a great unit

I got this around Christmas for a great price and it is feature packed. One bonus was a few months after I received it, there was an update from Sony that added 3D Blu-Ray playback. This thing does it all, Amazing instant video (through the web...

Excellent Upgrade

We got this as a replacement for the Logitech Revue which broke in less than 6 months. The 3D viewing is excellent. Minor setback was that the 3D wasn't working initially, but a call to tech support just before midnight EST and we were ready to go!...

3D, Internet Browsing, Honeycomb 3.2, Easy

No Hulu

so-so...needs work with Amazon videos

Not a bad blue-ray, if that is what you are looking for. My review is based on the difficulty in not being able to select Amazon or Amazon Prime movies from the native application. Instead you have to search from the browser. I know it was present in...

looks, hook-up

no Amazon app for movies
