I can't believe what a frustrating experience just owning this POS was. I consider myself reasonably technically savvy, I update firmware, etc...

Came free with Sharp TV purchased Feb 2008

Doesn't reliably play Blu-Ray movies - Sharp support frustrating at best

The player is unremarkable in most respects. Picture and sound quality are okay and the controls are fairly average.

Only need one remote if using a Sharp Aquos TV

Physically large and clunky. Very slow to start even in "QuickMode". Very fussy about what Blu-Rays it will play

I would not recommend this. The biggest selling point is the interface with a Sharp TV, and that is plagued with problems, particular the incompatible video format.

Same control as my Sharp TV

The HDMI interface with the TV is inconsistent. Boot up is very slow and inconsistent.Frequently the picture locks up or skips

This player takes an a bit longer to load and I've noticed that you have to "reset" the player more often than not. However, I have no complaints when this player finally gets going it is what you expect from a Blu Ray player, excellent picture and sound.

Great 1080p Picture and sound

Load time can take awhile. Wont Play Certain Fox Studio Titles

Only had trouble on one DVD and was able to go out to the Sharp website to get the firmware download to correct the problem. It was very easy to accomplish with a memory stick. Always be sure to check the Sharp website for updates if you have problems.

Price and picture, ease of applying firmware updates

Can't start where you left off after powering down

Had this player since January, froze ALOT, kept the firmware current on player, constantly dropped audio during playback, awkward setup for firmware updates. kept out hope for update to correct problems, gave up, returned to best buy and exchanged for...

quick loading, easy to use

freezes easily, no bonus view or bdlive

I have discovered that my Blue Ray player will not play certain Blue Ray movies, specifically, Alvin & the Chipmunks, and Juno. The BD disk is read fine, but fails to load the menu resulting with the inability to play the movie. Performing a system...

Great Price and Picture Quality

Can't Play certain titles

Works seemlessly with my Sharp Aquos LCD TV. If you have QuickMode activated, player doesn't fully turn off (kind of goes into a standby state), thereby allowing faster loading of BDs. Also, the ability to turn off the display makes it seem as though...

Great startup time, clean aesthetic look, minimalistic design

Basic Profile 1.0 is going to be outdated; but only if you're worried about that sort of thing
