Samsung BD-D6 review: Samsung BD-D6

Samsung BD-D6

The ; sports dual HDMI outputs, built-in Wi-Fi, and one of the most extensive suites of streaming video services in comparable Blu-ray players this year, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, MLB.TV, Vudu and CinemaNow. Its 1GB of onboard memory is also more...

It's tough to justify the BD-D6700's high price, especially with the Sony PS3 being available for only slightly more. And while the dual HDMI outputs are nice, most buyers that need them will be just as satisfied with a player with a single HDMI output...

The Samsung BD-D6700 is an excellent all-around Blu-ray player with dual HDMI outputs, but for most buyers its upgrades won't justify its high price.

DVD-Blu-Ray works great

Netflix streaming does not function properly. See "Chat" conv with Samsung. Very disappointing considering the efforts put forth to ensure the issues weren't caused by some source outside my Samsung product, prior to my reaching out to Samsung.

"Constant problems!"

Bought a new entertainment pkg from 'Worst Buy' to include the D6500 Blue Ray and a Samsung flatscreen. I have had nothing but problems with the Blue Ray. Netflix promblems have included "Netflix not available, try again later", Lost connection, and...

Affordable

See above, I've had so many issues over the last 8 months, and spent a lot of time researching, calling (both Samsung & Netflix), and it still has issues!

"Blu-ray Player that doesn't play Blu-rays."

I may not know enough to provide a thorough review of this product but I know that this Blu-ray player doesn't play Blu-rays. I confirmed with Samsung tech support that the device was updated with the most current firmware and that they were aware of...

As a novice tech person I agree with the CNET review in that most of the features that make this player special are above and beyond what the average user require.

The player's out of date firmware prevent it from playing many movies. In the first 4 weeks I came across 4 movies from Netflix that wouldn't play. I connected the device to my wi-fi network and had playback issues each time I tried to watch a movie.

"It is an okay BD player"

With the poor wifi, slow bd speeds, weak netflix app functionality, and poor placement of the usb port, in conjunction with price, i'm thinking of taking it back soon.

All the streaming services, great integration with my Samsung plasma tv, and has played everything I've put in it so far. No physical buttons to get broken, one USB port.

ONE usb port which is located under a flip panel on the front of the device.

Will not play new blu ray disks, model needs update.

Update the firmware already Samsung!!!! I'm returning this and buying something that works. This model came highly recommended, and for this price it should at the very least play a blu ray disk.

Internet connectivity, ease of use for disks that will play

You will want to throw this piece of crap against the wall the third time you buy an unplayable disk. Chances are 50-50 that any new blu ray disk you buy will not be playable on this lemon. No firmware update available.
