Samsung BD-D5700 Review: An Easy-to-Use Blu-ray Player, at a Reasonable Price

Thanks to a simple first-time wizard, an animated home screen, and exceptionally useful on-screen menus, you should have no trouble setting up or using the Samsung BD-D5700. Once you get it going, you'll find an excellent selection of Internet content...

Attractive and useful on-screen menus ; Superb selection of streaming Internet content

No 3D Blu-ray Disc support ; Phone remote-control apps limited in function ; Provides limited information while viewing disc

If you don't care about 3D and don't need the absolute best image quality, the Samsung BD-D5700 is an excellent choice. It comes with a wide selection of Internet entertainment and is remarkably easy to use--all for a reasonable price.

Samsung BD-D5700

With good speeds, solid performance, integrated Wi-Fi, a wide array of Web services and apps, and a less-than-$200 price, the Samsung BD-D5700 stands out as the best midrange Blu-ray player we've tested.

Excellent performance. Built-in Wi-Fi. Wide selection of Web apps.

No 3D support. Single USB port is on the front panel. Little integrated memory.

Player work well, a bit slow on updating online content - internal memory is very small (about 130 MB), and is filled with unnecessary Apps, so it basically need to update online content every time you go to Netflix or YouTube. But for the money - cant...

Would have been a great price if it worked

This unit didn't play BR discs or work with Netflix streaming at all. The first movie we put in the player stuttered and staggered and then locked up and wouldn't play. The same thing happened with Netflix streamed movies. I know my router isn't the...

Sets itself up, Netflix works beautifully

Think negative reviews about Wi-Fi and Netflix must be problems with peoples wi-fi routers. Mine is 60 feet away in another room.
