Pioneer BDP-05FD - null

I've had the player now for approximately seven months now and have had no major complaints that would have me take points away from the player. As all the firmware updates have been released, I added them to the player and it just keeps getting better.

Beautiful aesthetics, quick loading times, built-in Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD Decoders (after firmware update) using Wolfson Audio DAC, Great Video Processing

Indicator light to notify one that that front display screen is off seems a little redundant

I used the 7.1 analog audio outputs whith my older Lexicon MC-8 sound processor. I connected the video via hdmi (with a dvi converter) directly to my tv. I liked this player, but I had to return it. It has an incredible picture and easy setup. It has...

It looks great in the a/v rack. Good pic quality on my 1080i 57" tv. Faster than previous models. Great sound quality with CDs

NO DTS HD MA (it will be added through upgrade later) but even when updated, it will downgrade the 7.1 MA signal to 5.1 if you are using the analog outputs. Hard to find frontpanel buttons in dark. Remote not backlit

It took a while for this player to grow on me or change my perspective to a positive light, because of a few technical issues I had with managing the player or its basic functions. In comparison to other players, certainly the Elite 05 is a step above...

Excellent video processing. 7.1 or 5.1 Analog audio outputs for oldtimers

Too close or the same to the lesser priced model BDP-51FD. No direct switching capability between audio and video formats for comparison or easy flexibility

This is a beautiful unit and the looks are not just a pretty cover - this thing delivers the goods. My setup is through HDMI with a Pioneer Plasma, using the "PDP" mode for such matches. The setup was very easy, even the whole "HDMI Control" process,...

Fast load times, GREAT cosmetics, easy setup and fantastic pic, good upscaling

A little pricey, but worth it

From power off to disc tray open requires 23 seconds. POTC-AWE from tray close to first image = 57 seconds. No delays in chapter skip or scene selection. Picture quality is vastly and noticeably improved over BDP-94HD via High Speed HDMI Transmission....

Quick load times. Beautiful Cosmetics. Capacitance touch controls are very sleek and responsive

Remote. Buttons are small, no illumination
