Panasonic's flagship player delivers a truly captivating performance

Excellent picture ; strong sound ; smooth motion handling ; great with 3D and upscaling

The remote control’s touch pad can be a bit awkward to use

Panasonic has done it again – this player delivers a truly captivating performance

Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Blu-ray player review

A Blu-ray player with a touch of old-school panache. If only it came with a retro remote...

Sublime video quality; superior audio over HDMI; excellent analogue audio performance; good file support from USB

Infuriating touchpad controller; unnecessary multi-user modes; complicated networking mapping requirement

Panasonic DMP-BDT500 review

The BDT500 is Blu-ray luxury but is it worth spending the best part of £300 on? We watched film after film after film to find out

Fantastic picture in both 2D and 3D ; Commanding sound

It’s far from sleek ; Unwieldy, frustrating remote control

Brilliant in almost every way, the DMP-BDT500 is one of the finest Blu-ray players ever

Panasonic DMP-BDT500

Following the first routine firmware update (First day of use), the BBC iPlayer ceased to work. After 10 minutes on an 0844 number to Panasonic, their semi trained drone informed me that it was my broadband connection, rather than their update. They...
