Panasonic says it has produced a reference quality BD player at a mainstream price
Superior HD video performance ; Full lossless audio support via HDMI ; Slim design ; Good DVD playback
BD-Live failed on sample ; No 5.1 analogue outputs
A superbly engineered deck with impressive HD capabilities

Back when Blu-ray was just a twinkle in its creator's eye, there was much talk about BD Live and how it would revolutionise the way we watch movies, but little did we know that there would be an arduous 2-year wait for the idea to come to fruition. But...
Picture quality, ease of use, BD Live support
Disappointing DVD playback
The DMP-BD35 is an exceptionally good Blu-ray player that offers tremendous value for money. Not only does it deliver the goods from a performance perspective but it’s also packed with features and handles like a dream. DVD playback is the only blot on...

Panasonic's latest hi-def deck is striving for the budget Blu-ray crown. Is it time to plan the coronation?
A sensational all-round performer and a real contender for the budget Blu-ray player crown

For that very purpose you'll find an Ethernet port on the rear panel, as well as the obligatory HDMI output (version 1.3 of course). But cost-cutting has led to the omission of any multichannel analogue audio outputs, which leaves the HDMI port as your...
BD Live, best hi-def pictures of all four decks, lots of features, extremely easy to use
No multichannel analogue outputs

Blu-ray Disc (BD) is hitting the mainstream. Although a select few are still grumbling at the new possibility of watching high quality video in the home - or Â"having to replaceÂ" their DVD collection, depending on your point of view - the fact is that...

Good value. Strong picture quality. Fast disc loading. SD card slot means you can display photos on TV via this player. Eject button on remote
No longer the latest model. Limited connectivity compared to newer models (HDMI is only way of getting high-quality sound) and limited built-in memory

The cost of entry is lower than ever: should the DMP-BD35 be your ticket into high quality video?

Panasonic's DMP-BD35 is a fantastic entry-level Blu-ray disc player.
Very good picture quality, stylish, good price, Blu-ray Live
DVD up-scaling produces mixed results, no 7.1 analog audio outputs
If you're in the market for a Blu-ray player and you don't want to spend too much, the Panasonic DMP-BD35 represents excellent value for money.

The energy-efficient Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-ray player delivers an admirable picture but handles discs slowly.
1080p24 DVD upconversion. Energy-efficient. Can automatically update firmware.
1080p24 DVD upconversion feature needs to be manually activated. Sluggish menu navigation. BD-Live support requires optional memory card.

Panasonic DMP-BD35 - Blu-ray disc player
Excellent image quality on Blu-ray Discs; Profile 2.0 compliant; onboard decoding for all high-resolution soundtrack formats, plus bit-stream output.
PlayStation 3 offers much more functionality and faster navigation, although it costs more.
The Panasonic DMP-BD35 represents the best value in standalone Blu-ray players, with excellent image quality, a comprehensive feature set, and a price that's significantly lower than the PS3.
