Netgear NeoTV review

The Netgear NeoTV 550 is hugely flexible and will play almost any digital media file thrown at it

Hugely flexible ; loads of connections ; extensive format support

No streaming services to speak of ; quite hard to live with

Decent enough if you know what you’re doing, but no easy ride

Netgear NEO TV review

It may not boast all of the ‘gadgets' of the iXtreamer, but the NeoTV 550 will still give media moguls plenty to sink their teeth into. It's made by Netgear, a company with a good track record in network equipment (I used its ReadyNAS Ultra 4 as one of...

Decent remote and connectivity; network, USB and SD-card support

Some supported files wouldn’t play; JPEG slideshow a bit juddery

Netgear NeoTV (NTV200) review

When Netgear announced a short time ago that they'd be going right after Roku by undercutting the 2 XS's price , it finally appeared that the media streaming market would get some long overdue competition.

The Netgear NeoTV is a good media streamer that provides a generous and diverse collection of preprogrammed content channels. It works great with an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection for resolutions up to 1080p. The optional smartphone app is a nice touch,...

NeoTV has very limited functionality not going much beyond just streaming. There's no expansion port and users can only connect the device to a TV via an HDMI cable.

While it's a capable streamer the lack of any expandable memory and its limited connectivity really limit its universal appeal. It's also priced too high compared to the most recent Roku offerings.

Netgear NeoTV Review

The Netgear NeoTV is a well-performing and multi-functional home media server. In addition to delivering a variety of digital content, NeoTV also gives you access to live TV through Google TV. You also get access to the Google app store.

The Netgear NeoTV with Google TV offers some impressive services, including several apps and channels, live TV access and access to your personal media files. The NeoTV is a capable home media server that has most of the features you'd expect. It's...

"This just SUCKS!"

VERY misleading! I thought I could at least direct it from my computer wirelessly, but NOOOOOOOPE- SORRY - NO-CAN-DO! I hate it! I think my friend who gave it to me MUST have done it as a joke! That reminds me to put on my TO DO list for the morning:...

Is there one at least? OH WAIT-I didn't have to pay for it. it was a gift

It was a gift:( Nothing worth watching. I would rather just hardwire my computer to my TV and just use it as a second monitor as I have done in the past.

"This product is extremely limited and very misleading."

A BUNCH OF USELESS OUTDATED APPS, APPS FOR CHANNELS OR PODCASTS THAT DON'T APPLY TO GENERAL PUBLIC. SKATEBOARDING TV, MOTORSPORT PODCASTS, NOTHING SPORTS OR AMERICAN RELATED. GET A DIFFERENT WEBTV BOX. THIS ONE SUCKS AND ISN'T WORTH THE MONEY. THERE IS...

NETFLIX & YOUTUBE..

VERY LIMITED NEWS STATIONS THAT ARE OUTDATED & RANDOM CHANNELS YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT SUCK- ANYWAY- WHICH ARE OUTDATED SIGNIFICANTLY WITH NO NEW RELEASES. SOME APPS DON'T EVEN WORK AT ALL. POKER GAME FREEZES UP EVERY TIME I BEGIN TO PLAY.

regret the purchase returning and rebuying roku hd

thought id save a buck or two by purchasing the netgear neotv ntv-300. i even called presales ahead of time. though this device does contain both wired as well as wireless capabilities(roku would cost TWICE if not three times the price for all that)...

price is 25 dollars cheaper

absolutely NO apps that are free except the ones i can get free on my pc already-even tech support admitted that netgear versus the roku that roku has WAY more subscription contracts.

I'll agree with the pure garbage comment. NTV300

Until DESIRABLE entertainment content can be streamed to watch for FREE with these devices I'm opting out. A penny saved is a penny earned - make your money off ads. Or, have a special category for FREE content on each channel (if there is any). I did...

Hooks up easily. HD to the TV.

I want to view free internet entertainment content. And, there is free content, just none I want to watch. Anything that I might want to watch that would be free to view over the air or free with my PC is not available.

CNET NEEDS TO RE-EVALUATE WITH NEW PRICE IN MIND

This CNET Article was written when the price of this device was 80 dollars. It's now 49.99 at wal-mart. That makes this technically the best streaming video player on the market for the price! It smokes the Roku LT in feature content and video quality.

1080p video, hulu, netflix, pandora, youtube, vudu. This thing is better than Roku 2

none! This thing is awesome!

Streaming is goood, lots of content & HD when available

If you are debating between this and the ROKU I prefer the functionality of the ROKU, menu responsiveness is great on the ROKU in comparison to the NEO TV, otherwise wireless connectivity is great on both units and streaming is pretty decent ...

HD content when available, great for streaming, good buffering

Poor menu responsiveness, annoying but it does function. Rewind/Fastforward is ok but difficult to manage.
